Warm school shoes

DD has awful raynauds, she has to wear really sensible warm shoes to school in the winter.

She's 12 now and self conscious wanting to look like all her friends and not stand out. She's a size 6.

Anyone seen totally flat black boots ideally fur lined? As plain as plain can be?

Would these be any good?

Mayhemmumma · 17/11/2023 08:41

Those look great! Thank you I'll order some.

I would recommend getting some rechargeable heated insoles. I use mine regularly. I bought them for winter cycling, but now use them when WFH.

They won't last all day, but perhaps your daughter could get them recharged at lunchtime or swap between pairs?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 17/11/2023 10:20

I'd suggest warm wool insoles for her shoes (I got some recently in Lidl of all places! they are very cosy and I'm raging I didn't buy extra as I now move them around different shoes!) and thermal socks (M&S do good ones)

You might need to get a new pair of shoes one size bigger to accommodate the liners and thermal socks. If possible, put socks & liners on the radiator in the morning just before she puts them on so they'll be toasty.

Good ideas! Like idea of putting them on radiator too thank you

I would just get normal school shoes but make sure they have a removable inner sole and replace with a thermal one. Depends what her school regulations are for socks but you can get normal looking socks with silver in which can really help too.

How is she a size 6 at age 12

DanceMumTaxi · 17/11/2023 17:25

Quite easily, my ds is 11 and a 5.5. There is a girl in his class who is size 7, she’s very tall too.

What a silly question.

OP, what kind of boots are the other girls wearing?

ElliePhant28 · 17/11/2023 17:55

Would she be allowed to wear winter converse?

Changednayme · 17/11/2023 23:10

Kids these days are giants I am an adult and am 5 and a half size

kitchenhelprequired · 18/11/2023 00:14

@Changednayme DD was a size 6 at 11 years old. Her feet never got any bigger despite her continuing to grow well into late teens. She is far from unusual.
