New haircut looks like a wig

I’m not sure what’s going on here. But I had a haircut (from very long) to chin length. But it looks odd and I can’t explain why?

It kind of looks a bit like a wig?

Is it because my hair is very thick? What should I say to my hairstylist?

I’ve booked to have it thinned out a bit at the back.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Currently sat with a deep conditioning mask on.

I like it, you look like Nicole kidman from The Others

She definitely looks like a celeb but I couldn’t work out who!

SausageAndEggSandwich · 13/11/2023 17:54

Lego hair. I have very thick hair (both texture & quantity) and it's slightly wavy so any bob has to be viciously thinned/layered to avoid it

I mostly keep it shoulder length or longer now because of it, otherwise I have to straighten it every day, a hairdryer doesn't cut it

muddyford · 13/11/2023 17:56

It took me several years to train my stylist not to leave me looking like Bill Clinton. Yours looks fine.

PickAChew · 13/11/2023 17:57

I have very thick hair and it does need a bit of subtle layering to keep it from looking triangular or helmet like. Thinning with those scissors just makes it frizzy, particularly as I usually allow it to curl.

queenofthewild · 13/11/2023 18:36

When my hair gets a bit bushy like that, I can rescue it by using straighteners on the bottom layer or two of hair.

Sometimes I straighten the whole thing for a glossy bob, other times just the underneath so that the top layer isn't being pumped up by hair beneath it.

RudsyFarmer · 13/11/2023 18:39

Have you tried putting some product on it and straightening it or giving it some waves? I think it could look lovely if you get some styling going on.

Whereas I seemed to get the Hillary special every time...

PosyPrettyToes · 13/11/2023 18:43

It needs a little thinning, and maybe toning to a cooler blonde? It doesn’t look bad though!

bellac11 · 13/11/2023 18:45

The picture where you are in the car (?), blue bomber jacket.... well that looks good, I agree with someone else it looks as if you're trying to keep it straight, dont keep it straight, wavy it up, a lot, put more body into it, wear it big and proud

PureAmazonian · 13/11/2023 18:45

I think it's the colour honestly

EasternStandard · 13/11/2023 18:50

I like the cut, esp in the car shot

Is your hair coloured?

Riverhousepuppy · 13/11/2023 18:53

You should ask if you can have a secret undercut at the back. It will take out the blockiness and make it sit properly. Nothing drastic and you won't see it but I have similar hair and it works a treat

friskybivalves · 13/11/2023 18:55

Reminds me of Lucy Boynton in the ipcress file. Lush. What happens if you try a side parting?

I love it! Is this not the ever so trendy French bob?

I think it looks great honestly!

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 13/11/2023 19:15

I think it is lovely and you should just take strands of hair when it is wet and wind them around or twist them and let it dry naturally and you will have that lovely beachy looking hair that really suits blonde. Once you wash yourself it will look differently and it is probably just a shock to you seeing it shorter. I think it looks stylish and modern.

whiteshutters · 13/11/2023 19:15

You have 3 completely different looks there - face on is the best. The one in the car I really don't like the wave on top but I love the side waves. The back one is the worst - did you blow dry it? It's the ends of your hair I think. It looks like they didn't cut it well and you need a good conditioning treatment. Sometimes it takes a good week for a cut to settle. I also think you should get the colour split up a bit.

whiteshutters · 13/11/2023 19:21

eg and a bit of growth will help too

What is with this “triangle hair” and “Lego hair” stuff?

As a person with thin fine hair these are things I would absolutely love to achieve!

OP I think you have great hair. I recommend Olaplex no 3 or 8 for serious conditioning if it’s dry, and maybe a purple shampoo. I would not be getting any sort of undercut or thinning done in your shoes.

whiteshutters · 13/11/2023 19:34

Beware @Ibetyoudidntknow you may end out there on the Internet forever 😂

Sorry but this really made me laugh!

Dogsitterwoes · 13/11/2023 20:04

I have wavy/frizzy thick hair and get the triangle at that length. Do not have layers, from bitter experience.

Either embrace the wave/curl and go for big hair with a bit of additional shaping.

Or, my favourite, get an undercut at the back so it flattens down.

Ibetyoudidntknow · 13/11/2023 20:32

Haha you guys are making me laugh.

I deep conditioned and did not towel dry this time. I then dried it straight down with the Dyson straight styling brush thing.

this made it much flatter at the bottom.

Ive put a few waves in it and I’m ok with it.

Thank you for the suggestion on deep conditioning it.

Im also going to get a few layers put in at the back. (It’s very thick at the back)

It’s not the stylists fault at all. She is fab. It’s just my awkward hair I think 😃

Thank you. I think you are right. It needs another inch in length and it will look better
