Jeans - am I doomed to wear skinnies forever more?

I've worn skinnies for probably at least the last ten years, blue, black, coated pleather, cord...they are definitely my comfort zone and also go with all my tops/boots etc. But I know that they are starting to look a bit dated, and my favourite pairs are looking a bit worn and I can't get that type any more (shop went bust). I've been trying different styles and shapes and just can't find any that work as well as skinnies. I know sometimes it's a case of getting used to a different silhouette, but I just look really dumpy in everything I've tried. Would really appreciate suggestions for different styles/brands that perhaps I haven't thought of. I'm 5'2.5, short waisted and longer legs (in proportion, rather than them actually being long😂), petite (under 8 stone) but also have hips and a bum. I've tried lots different Levis (ribcage straight, straight slim, 501s), none of which work even though they fit (25 waist, 27/28 leg), M&S (all types, all make my bum look awful and my legs short and stubby)... any other suggestions would be very much appreciated!

I'm a similar size and shape and I like Zara denim. I think I have these and although they're called Mom jeans they're not very baggy. Quite a good intro to less skinny jeans. River Island still do a good selection of skinnies though if you just want to stick with them - I like their Molly skinnies.

I sound like a similar body shape. What about flares? I love flares that are fitted around the top. They look good with a fitted top or cropped jumper. I wear them with trainers for everyday, but it is hopeless if the ground is wet as they get soggy.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at the Zara jeans- never thought to look as their clothes are usually way too long for me. Not sure about flares - they do look good on others but i have too many horrible memories of flappy wet material round my ankles from when I was in my teens/twenties 🤣. Maybe I need to try them again…

I've also struggled a bit to move out of skinnies and would recommend looking for tapered girlfriend or boyfriend jeans, so a bit looser but not too much of a big change. Cropped are good as then they are full length if you're short.

Like this sort of shape but there are loads around:

Surprisingly, Next jeans have quite a range of styles, after a tip off on MN I've moved my allegiance from Levi / NYDJ to Next, esp their Lift, slim & shape range.

The website starts in a confusing way, by listing all the permutations of colour, shape and size separately. If you select into any individual example, you see tabs of slim, flare, wide leg etc from where you can chose the colour and size.

Enjoy.

I am similar measurements to you, op, and having same issues. Most styles make people look like a box, no matter their weight/height.
Compare images of models in the new styles and even they look dreadful, especially at stores such as Margaret Howell, Toast, and John Lewis.

I don't like skinnies, but do find slim fit jeans to be the most sensible and decent looking. The reams of extra fabric with the baggy high waists are deeply unflattering and lumpy, requiring baggier or boxier tops to pull off.

There a lots of skinny and slim jeans available but often have a super high rise.

I don't know what to recommend as struggling myself. We either get extreme tightness or extreme bagginess, never an in between!

Pic examples of why even slim models look shit in recent clothes..and don't get me started on the horrid long arse rises....
