Inspired to make more effort today!

Inspired by the thread about a stunningly stylish older couple (and ignoring the mood hoovers! If this thread, or indeed board, is too patronising for you feel free to go elsewhere..) I am going to do a bit of wardrobe rummaging today! I need a clear out and I know I have a few great pieces I haven’t seen for flippin ages, so it’s time to dig them out. I do spend quite a lot of time organising my work wardrobe, but a lot less on the non-work pieces. Looking forward to it now, so many thanks to the poster who started that earlier thread! I know that somewhere in my house lurks this vintage Vivienne Westwood dress, and these Rosamund Muir boots (I take pics of my wardrobe which can be helpful when the menopause brain kicks in, lol) - I just need to find them…

I got dressed up to go shopping yesterday. Long cream pleated skirt, oversized cream roll neck, white converse boots, huge cream puffer gilet and a cream cashmere beanie. Got complimented by 2 strangers, which was lovely.

Dressing up is fun.

I've not got dressed yet (I know - lazy git) but I think I'll go for Brora cashmere and lots of some pearls.

I’d die in those heels, but you’ve got me fondly remembering some black lace up ones I had c1991. Even then, all my size 8 body could do in them was totter. Now, size 14 with some balance issues, I’m not sure I could even walk to a cab in them!

I’m not really doing anything today, but I do try to wear nice things for work and going out. I bought a new jacket in the summer (tweedy with some sparkly threads running through) so I might wear it tomorrow in honour of MN.

I work in a school and have recently made a bit more of an effort at work. Getting a compliment of 'you look really nice today Miss' from a Y10 just about made my week.

The other thread you refer to made me think how nice it is to compliment others and we don't do enough of it.

What a cool dress! It looks like it would make you feel great wearing it.

I am WFH all day today and fully intend to stay in my outfit of pyjama shorts with ancient jogging bottoms overtop, thermal base layer, jumper and duvet, until bedtime.

OP, I was also enjoying the stylish older couple thread and it has inspired me to make more of an effort too. I already have a wardrobe packed with gorgeous clothes, but 1. I can’t fit into them (most are an 12 and I’m a solid 14 now)and 2. I don’t have that lifestyle anymore. Perhaps it’s time to address both.
Today I’m going to do a recce of my accessories and shoes (things I can still fit into!😀) and think about how I can introduce them to my working wardrobe.

Half of my clothing is packed away from moving (ages ago!) and I’m gradually sorting through it.

Yesterday was underwear drawers day and I chucked all of not so nice things.

I've got 3 bags set aside for the charity shop - just back from holiday and put away all the Summer clothes and used this time as an excuse to slim my wardrobe. So satisfying! All the Winter things that I never wear - gone. As I am jetlagged I will be in PJs all day although they will be clean ones after a shower.

I’ve left the house. Scruffy but with my Vivienne Westwood scarf and red Chanel lipstick.

Lol - I have a silly baker boy hat for the rain and ripped jeans. Awesome is probably not the right word!
