Looking for a rucksack for my DH for Christmas. Something heard wearing but a bit different budget around £100:£150.

There's tons of packs, depends what he likes.

Military looking?
Hiking?
Casual?

Try Helikon-Tex for military / outdoorsy
Osprey Europe - hiking and casual
Chrome Industries - for a more urban style
Go Ruck - military look and over budget but would likely last for the next 100years.

For commuting?
For hiking?
For holidays?
For something else?

GrangeFill · 09/11/2023 15:29

I just got a Roka one.

RandomUsernameHere · 09/11/2023 15:53

DH has an Eastpak one which is great for travelling and holds loads.

Depending on the purpose, Rains are great and on budget

Sorry should have mentioned it's mainly for work! Thanks for all the suggestions.

rolltop seems to be the fashion at the moment. Does he walk / cycle to work or is it for use in the car?

KStockHERO · 09/11/2023 16:31

Thanks for starting this thread, OP, I've now decided to buy my DP a new rucksack so loving the recommendations on here!

BadgerFace · 09/11/2023 16:32

Roka!

ICanSeeMyHouseFromHere · 09/11/2023 16:39

I just got a fantastic Samsonite one in Costco - fits all my gear, with pockets to spare, doesn't dig in anywhere (like my last Samsonite backpack did). I think it looks nice too

It really depends what work he does, and what hobbies he does too I suppose.

Really very upscale offices and such would likely be more Harber London.
An Amazon warehouse worker that cycles in the rain would be more Lomo Dry Bag Roll Top.

The North Face Borealis is a decent sporty / hiking bag etc.

Bellroy make some fantastic professional type looking bags, as do AER.

If he works in Tech then more Tech carrying influenced bags would be an option, TomToc is a decent brand that don't cost the earth.

There's a good place to look here:

I like backpacks .. 😁🤣

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 09/11/2023 17:27

Loving all these suggestions! He's a lawyer, enough space for his laptop and phone etc and he walks to work. I like the look of the Rokas.

Sandqvist are excellent. Durable and stylish. I bought mine in March and have used it for everything from daily use, cabin hand luggage and a beach bag. It's a roll top style and I love that you can fit loads in without it ever being too bulky and lots of handy pockets/sections. Definitely large enough for a laptop.

If he walks to work I’d definitely go for something waterproof! My work backpack isn’t but I’m looking to upgrade it to one for the safety of my electronics!

Papillon23 · 09/11/2023 20:52

I've got a Barbour one - might be a bit to countrysidey but it's completely waterproof, I think nice, unisex and practical.

I got myself a Roka a little while ago. DP has pretty much taken possession of it. Uses it all the time.

DH just bought another Swiss Gear business back pack, fits everything in from laptop, to a change of clothing if travelling, well made and robust with a place for everything but still neat.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 10/11/2023 09:59

Love the Barbour one, going to order that! Hopefully he'll like it.
