Hairdresser said getting the warmth out of my hair is not possible

I have naturally light brown hair (level 7), and dyed it a slightly darker light ash brown (level 6/7). It faded really orange, and I decided I wanted to go lighter so I went in for a balayage.

After the balayage, my hair is still really warm and orange and has a lot of gold in it. The hairdresser said I have a lot of natural warmth in my hair so it isn't possible for me to get the dark ash blonde colour I want despite bleaching it.

Is anyone able to explain this to me as I had presumed with a naturally light base getting a dark ash blonde would be pretty straight forward, and I've seen other 'before and afters' done at the same salon that have turned medium brown hair to platinum blonde in 1/2 appointments, so I thought my goal would be easy to achieve as it's only going from light brown to dark blonde.
