Eyeliner with just enough staying power.

Hi, I’m looking for an eyeliner with enough staying power that it doesn’t rub off quickly, but does not having such strong staying power that I can’t remove without too much difficulty.

I have Graves Eye Disease and the shape of my eyes have changed, they’re bit more protuberant so I’m having to relearn how to apply eyeliner on my ‘new’ eyes and it’s now really quite difficult. Also I’ve got slight double vision a lot of the time now when focusing up close, which also comes with GED.

I need an eyeliner that allows for mistakes, that I can rub off very lightly with a bit of eye makeup remover, but not so creamy that it last 5 minutes.

I’ve used a Chanel one for many years that is rather creamy, but I could refresh it easily during the day. Now, just to put on eye make up it takes a magnifying mirror, and a lot of hit and misses. Each time. So I’m down to applying it once a day now as its very time consuming. I’d sort of given up wearing my eyeliner but it was very much a part of my look, and I miss it. Graves has changed the way I look so much. Eyes, lots of added weight (after they zapped my thyroid with RAI) very thin hair. If just want to hang onto this one thing.

Am I hoping for the impossible:?

Sorry to hear about your Graves, that sounds tough.

I got converted to Laura Mercier Tightliner a few years ago. It's a dry cake, you apply it with a fine brush dipped in water. I've found it really stays in place (I wear loads of moisturiser and have slightly crepey eyelids these days, so anything creamy just migrates instantly). It smudges a little over the course of a day, but doesn't disappear. Comes off easily as well. Buildable and you have quite a lot of control about how dark it is (basically adjust how much water you use when applying). And lasts absolutely years!

I use Charlotte Tilbury pencil eyeliner (there's a couple of different types, one a classic kohl and one more creamy and goes on easier, both last very well).

Then for liquid eyeliner I use Kat von D tattoo eyeliner which has amazing staying power but comes off easily with makeup remover.

I’ll have a look at them all. All sound like possibilities. Thanks for the link,Afrikat.

Avon glimmerstick eyeliner absolutely fits the bill here!

Maybelline do a 24hr Tattoo eyeliner which I find creamy but doesn't budge. You can definitely remove it with make up remover though.

I like the Pixi eyeliners if you’re looking for a pencil. They’re nice and soft/blendy but do stick.

Another vote for Avon Glimmersticks, I swear by them now after having used expensive eyeliners for years which didn't stay on.

Thanks everyone. I’m making a list - 3 posters have suggested Avon Glimmersticks so far, so I’ll start with that one.
