If you were going on a little shopping spree what would you buy?

Planning a “treat yourself trip” but will likely do some Christmas shopping for others whilst I’m there. I’ll likely head to London what are some of the shops not to be missed whilst I’m there?

any just buys at the moment? I’ll likely spend around 3k.

any nice new places to eat?

For serious clothes shopping I’d maybe make an appointment here:

With the advantage of plenty of eating and Christmas present buying options all huddled together around it.

I was going to say some cosy sheepskin slippers but I see the budget is £3k so… Lots of slippers?

Moredarkchocolateplease · 09/11/2023 11:06

I'm really boring but had a little splurge recently.

Bought a navy cashmere jumper from cos. A brown handbag from cos. A navy wool jumper from uniqlo.

I like navy!.

I saw some lovely things walking through libertys.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 09/11/2023 11:41

I’d just do Selfridges and Liberty.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 09/11/2023 11:42

Dover street market?

What do you actually want to get for your 3K?

SomethingMustBeScaringThemAway · 09/11/2023 12:00

I imagine the OP wants an enjoyable pre-Christmas face-to-face shopping experience - as she could otherwise do all her shopping from her sofa or bed or while eating lunch at her desk?

If not loaded down with bags (oh, the nostalgia!) it would be worthwhile making a pilgrimage to Bloom or Les Senteurs (or wherever preferred) to actually sniff some perfumes without having to send for samples. Nice for your gift recipients!

In terms of actual problem solving, Margaret Howell sizing is invariably problematic (for me) so, as an alternative to all the treasures of Mount St, the Fulham Road MH branch might be a sensible choice. All the house stuff would make wonderful gifts, too. And Bibendum for lunch.

(I do wish I still lived this sort of life …Grin)

If I wasn't in a permanent state of 'I'm going to lose a couple of stone very soon' I'd book a personal shopping appointment and a bra fitting, with the aim of buying a few new bras, also a capsule wardrobe that's good for smart and smart casual at work, and also nights out and a dress that I can wear for Christmas parties and the work conference dinner (because I don't care at all about being seen in the same dress twice or a dozen times).

Can't help on lunch unfortunately, I'd probably pick somewhere casual like tapas and cocktails, and then go to the champagne bar at the station on the way home.

garlicandsapphires · 09/11/2023 12:17

goodness how lovely!
I guess I'd buy very expensive scented candles, loads of books...and a big lunch.
Maybe posh underwear or boots, or a new pair of glasses from a fancy optician. I am not good at buying spur of the moment though so nearly everything is done online after much thought. I can't really imagine doing what you're doing.

Iamacatslave · 09/11/2023 12:19

Have a nosey around Liberty.

That goes without saying! An enjoyable pre Christmas shopping experience face to face.

CommonOrNot · 09/11/2023 12:39

Thanks guys! I’ve never heard of liberty so I’ll definitely have a nosey there.

not entirely sure what I want, I was thinking a new handbag as I’m terrible for just carrying my purse and keys around and not being able to hold anything else!

£3k? I wouldn't know where to begin. Liberty's is a good suggestion and maybe South Molton St and Marylebone High Street. All will be pretty and Christmassy and have nice places to eat too.

yesbutnobut · 09/11/2023 14:23

Marylebone High St then Selfridges

VestPantsandSocks · 09/11/2023 14:26

Aspinall Handbag
Cartier jewellry

And the £3k is spent!
Merry Christmas 😀

allfurcoatnoknickers · 09/11/2023 14:42

I just had a little splurge because I'm back to work after maternity leave. I got a See by Chloe handbag, some Tod's loafers and a Herno faux fur coat from the Selfridges sale.

TokyoSushi · 09/11/2023 14:44

Oh my, the stuff of dreams, I'm delighted to go to the Trafford Centre with £100! Have a wonderful time OP!

SomethingMustBeScaringThemAway · 09/11/2023 15:43

You can have a lot of fun with £100 at the Trafford Centre! Hot chocolate at Selfridges; trying stuff on at Space NK; a mooch around the John Lewis kitchen shop. Only Topshop missing from the itinerary now. And Habitat. Oh dear …

windmill26 · 09/11/2023 17:08

Harrods, you get a lot of the same Designers/stock as Selfridges but with better selection and colours.

HundredMilesAnHour · 09/11/2023 17:17

I'd go to Selfridges and fritter money away in the handbag and beauty/perfume sections, followed by some ridiculously expensive house stuff that I don't need from their basement then up to the 5th floor for dim sum at Din Tai Fung. Then I'd head via St Christopher's Place up Marylebone Lane and spend money on lovely shoes from Tracey Neuls, and on to Marylebone High St for a coffee and Babelle canele before going to La Fromagerie for some artisan cheese to take home and enjoy with a glass of red wine whilst admiring all my new purchases.

vernatheraven · 09/11/2023 18:27

I had a meal in this one below and I had a beautiful flowering tea in a great big gin/wine glass.

Food was amazing.

Definitely visit Liberty it's beautiful 😻

I've never been to Harrods, what is it like inside when you go in?

Is it huge?

Is it a bit like that prety women scene where they won't sell her anything or is it just like a big department store?

I am dying to see it inside

It is huge and a bit of a maze. It has changed a lot in the last few years. I think their buyers have a very good eye and it shows in their selection and colours. They sell...a lot! It does get very busy especially at the weekend.I would suggest to go mid week and take your time to explore. Once you are done (and if you still have energy left ) you can walk down to Harvey Nichols (not as good as it used to be) ,have a browse in Sloane Street and get to Sloane Square / Kings Road where you have plenty of high street offerings if you still have any money left after Harrods😉

Depends on your lifestyle.

If you go to very smart social occasions and host lots of smart parties I expect you would like some evening wear, plus accessories to go with. Home ware to create beautiful table scapes would also be appropriate. Cosmetics and jewellery would also fit in.

If, however, you are mainly interested in fitness / sports then all the most up to date gear that goes with that would be of the most interest.
