What Colours Go With Purple?

This feels like one of those identifier questions that Cold War spies would ask each other! It's much more important than that though....

I'm getting married next year. It's second time round for me, and I am dead set on having a rich purple wedding dress. I love purple and it really suits my colouring. But what coordinating colours can I put my bridesmaids in? They are all very different colouring - one blonde, two dark with pale skin. I'm not very good at colours - help please!

Champagne?
Sage green?
Silvery grey?
A paler lilac?

I say this as someone who's primary colour scheme was purple, but broke it up with these colours.

This was with flowers, table accessories, balloon arrangements, garlands etc.

My wedding coordinator hosted several viewings of the venue to prospective wedding clients, who viewed my wedding layout before we arrived (we arrived at 2pm) and said she'd sold several weddings because my colour scheme had been so 'not what you'd think to put together, but is really beautiful" and it had essentially "sold" the venue for her.

And I have to admit, I look back at the pics and think "yeah, that really is stunning"

A lot went wrong, but my colour scheme was the dogs bollocks!

I love this scheme. If your dress is deep, dark purple, I'd be tempted to go for the grey-lilac of the lighter dresses in this pic and green foliage style flowers

I don't know what you'd call it, it's kind of like a Smokey lilac, or silvery lilac?

Agree with green, try the two together to make sure it works with the shade of purple you are using. Lovely combo.

Or another option that would go with deep purple. I particularly like the dark silver/grey

Purple works best with iridescents that pick it up, so you can ease in blues and greens.

Or are you talking Posh n Becks Wedding Purple? Scarlet is great with a kicker like that.

Fuschia if you want the bridesmaids to pop. Silver grey if you want to pop.

It may sound odd but mustard goes with purple x

I think muted shades of purple/lilac/ violet would look lovely depending who suits what. So your dress is rich and stands out and theirs is coordinated but not competing. Silvery ferny foliage for bouquets, tables etc. Teals and dusky pinks also nice plus bolder colours like rich mustard but I like the idea of a range of purple shades.

DD's wedding colours were purple and silver.
