Looking for a sheer, long-lasting foundation

Please help me find a new foundation. My old one was discontinued and I am bereft. I used to use No7 StayPerfecy Superlight which was brilliant. Have been using Estée Lauder Double Wear Sheer which is fine but not worth more than twice the price of the No7.

Wise S&B mavens please help 😩

Possibles from research so far:

Fenty Eaze Drop - reviews suggest not great for dry skin, which I have
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk (tested a couple of years ago, wasn’t wowed)
Autograph Luminous something or other.

Your suggestions are very welcome. I live in a small regional city, there is no Space NK but we have most of the other major brands. I want to buy in person and test etc before committing.

I have tried the last two of your possibles with no success, but am really loving a Body Shop foundation - Fresh Nude. Doesn't stick to any dry patches and it is buildable, but still gives a natural finish.

Just use any foundation you like but dilute it with a few drops of a good moisturiser such as Clinique dramatically different.

Thanks - I remember now I had seen that one mentioned elsewhere so will take a look.

I recently started using estee lauder futurist and it's great. I just did a 20 hr journey and didn't take it off when i went to bed, so when i finally showered, about/nearly 30 hrs later it still looked good.

Look at the Trinny London range - there are various levels of coverage but are light and doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all.

@notquitesoyoung i have trialled their stuff and find it very shiny

I like the No7 hydraluminous, but I’m not utterly convinced it has the requisite staying power

Bananaman123 · 07/11/2023 19:31

It’s a tinted moisturiser but it has good staying power and doesn’t feel like your wearing makeup, Nars tinted moisturiser

Chanel

I like L'Oréal Paris's true match nude tinted hyaluronic serum or whatever it's called - it's about 15 quid, I like it. Makes me still look like me but like my skin is better and I find it lasts well if I prep my skin and powder.

TotalOverhaul · 09/11/2023 21:04

Rimmel London 25 hour finish with serum. About £10 and genuinely stays put without caking.

itsanopefromme · 09/11/2023 21:10

Wear whatever foundation you like and a fixing spray. I like luminous silk (I know you don't like it) - but the Charlotte Tilbury fixing spray (or whichever you prefer) is key for long lasting foundation - especially if you want a light coverage foundation.

HowYouDoinMooin · 09/11/2023 21:12

I know you said in person shopping (sorry!) but I’ve been using Il Makiage for over two years now and it’s very sheer and buildable, I love it! I have it on subscription so I never run out 😃

Bourjois Healthy Mix (Superdrug) is fabulous for dry skin

GnTplease · 09/11/2023 21:32

The maybelline superstay skin tint is really good. Long lasting, has some coverage but not heavy and only like £10. I've tried loads of high end but really like this.

Repurposing · 09/11/2023 21:50

I have very dry skin. I use a damp beauty blender, and pat the foundation in with it (never spread it, it will just cling to the dry patches). This allows me to use foundations I could not otherwise use.

I came here to say the same. Its magic.

ClaireEclair · 10/11/2023 12:03

Charlotte Tilbury beautiful skin foundation is great and can be applied sheer .

LolaJ87 · 10/11/2023 12:07

I'm really liking BPerfect Chroma Luminous foundation as a more budget friendly at the moment. It's medium coverage, but very natural looking and easy to apply.
