I want to get better at make up

I'm in my 4th decade and feeling a bit self conscious about my wrinkles and general skin tone. I've got a decent skincare regime going; it's now about the icing on the top for make up!

What do you suggest? I live in North Cornwall, so popping into a beauty shop will take some logistical planning.

Watch some YouTube videos for inspiration. Look for thoughtful, professional artists like Lisa Eldridge rather than any old random Tiktoker doing a contour demo.

Was also just about to recommend Lisa Eldridge

Agree - watch YouTube videos but make sure they're by someone your age, no point trying to replicate what a fresh faced 20 yr old is doing!

Also make sure they have the same skin type as you, no point spending lots of ££ on products for oily skin if you're very dry for instance.

Lisa Eldridge is a great place to start.

Thank you

Robert Welsh on YouTube is good. His identical twin James does skincare.

Someone recommended someone called Ali or aly here recently-can anyone remember?

Redsippycup · 07/11/2023 18:40

Ali Andreea I think she's called, on YouTube. She's very good.

By complete coincidence I'm also the same age, in the same place. OP!

Also completely hopeless with makeup, I seem to have forgotten whatever little I once knew...

Aria2015 · 07/11/2023 18:41

TikTok has some good very quick and easy makeup tutorials. You can search for them by age too...

Another vote for Lisa Eldridge videos

I agree with Lisa Eldridge, but also look at Caroline Barnes on YouTube. She keeps things very simple.

Kim light up your face on Instagram - she’s got some really great tips
