Sore red bumpy and itchy area on scalp

DD, 14, has had a very sore area along her middle parting for a few months. It is red, bumpy to touch (possibly slight scabs/flakes) and flaky, also itchy. I feel like we have tried everything - head and shoulders shampoo, Nizoral, tea tree, oils, hydrocortisone cream, but nothing helps. As it is where her hair is parted it is noticeable. I'd take her to the GP if it didn't take so long to get a non-urgent appointment! Any ideas?

Psoriasis? Eczema?

I get this and have no idea what it is either. 3 things seem to make it worse for me, stress, a bad diet, and not having time to dry my hair. It disappears when I actually make sure to blow dry my hair straight after a shower so I think being damp exacerbates it. Does she use a lot of product in her hair? I’ve started to use Ouai clarifying shampoo once a week to get rid of any build up and that’s really helped too. Sympathy to her as it’s horrible, I can’t help but scratch when I have a flare up which makes it so much worse. I’ve been on a bit of a health kick for the last month or so, which has seen me pretty much give up sugar, and my scalp is much improved, my skin looks great too.

@HamHand you could have a point there, as she often leaves it damp after washing and she has a lot of hair so it takes a long time to dry. I will try and blow dry it for her from now on. May need to look at her diet too.

@TheSpikySpinosaurus yes, perhaps either, but very stubborn!
