Help! My moisturiser’s been discontinued!

I’ve been using REN’s V-Cense day cream for years. It was the perfect moisturiser for me and now it’s gone. Sob.
I loved the fact that it was unperfumed and left my middle-aged, easily irritated skin feeling soft and well-hydrated but not greasy.
Can anyone recommend a good alternative? Thank you!

My Clarins moisturiser was discontinued earlier this year, and I am using a Cerave one now which is about 1/3 of the price.

I really like the m and s pure brand. Well priced, different options. Vegan.

monpetitlapin · 05/11/2023 22:26

Ah I felt like this after Boots discontinued their amazing Sanctuary day cream about 9 or 10 years ago, I've never found anything else like it in that price range!
Do you have a l'Occitane near you? I'd recommend going in and asking if you can try some products out as their Immortelle range might be good for you and they have a few different options e.g. rich cream, emulsion (a lighter cream) etc.

After spending £££ on creams I discovered this. It's a pound or two cheaper in savers. Rich but not greasy, soothing on my sensitive skin.

Curel intensive moisturiser

ElizabethAA · 05/11/2023 22:41

Ever since having some Elemis products used on me two years ago I’m a huge fan, pricey but lasts a decent amount of time and the results have been really good.

FortunataTagnips · 06/11/2023 11:04

Thank you! Some very promising options here…

Have you tried the REN evercalm range? Developed for sensitive skin

WhamBamThankU · 06/11/2023 11:53

The best moisturiser I've ever used I found a couple of years ago and haven't changed since. It's from aldi and less than £2!

FortunataTagnips · 06/11/2023 14:24

@wheresmyshoe I used to use Evercalm but eventually found it a bit too light for my skin.

Aveene

Shelaydownunderthetable · 06/11/2023 16:53

Big Cerave fan here for my own similar sounding skin. Or if you want something a little fancier the Alumier HydraCalm is nice.

ClaireEclair · 06/11/2023 18:49

Dr Sam Bunting. The only skincare range that doesn’t make my skin crazy.

Housenoob · 06/11/2023 18:53

The Ordinary natural moisturising factors + HA.

It's light, non greasy, but moisturising enough and very affordable. Unperfumed as well.

Feckinlego · 06/11/2023 18:53

A million percent second Cetaphil. It totally transformed the texture of my dry rough menopausal skin, my skin is soft supple and not a bit dry. After years of expensive creams and serums I'll never use anything else ever again.

Hey did you manage to find something that works for you? Been using Ren V- cense for years and am stuck trying to find something as calming:-)

Musicofthespiers · 10/01/2025 23:03

Elemis Marine cream fits the bill but it is pricy. I've discovered Aveeno calm and restore moisturiser which is pretty good and has good reviews. I tend to alternate!

boatyardblues · 10/01/2025 23:22

Dermalogica do a Calming range for sensitive skin which is super-gentle. I have sensitive skin and get on well with their oil free Active Moist and Intensive Moisture Balance daily moisturisers. I’m gradually shifting over the intensive one as I age, but Active Moist was good when I was younger and more prone to hormonal break-outs. John Lewis stocks a limited range and you can order online.

@FortunataTagnips , my skin is super sensitive and Eczema prone. I absolutely love Altruist available on Amazon and as cheap as chips. Definitely worth a punt.

FortunataTagnips · 11/01/2025 14:48

Thank you, @Icanthinkformyselfthanks . I’ll take a look! I’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, which is lovely, but £££££.
