Christmas wedding guest dress. No idea what to wear

Am going to a wedding Christmas week. Not been to a non spring/summer wedding before so i have no idea what sort of dress to wear. Sparkles or just a smart dress in winter colours? Can anyone guide me towards something suitable please?

The Karen Millen you shared would be lovely - especially festive in the red if that suits ur colouring. The WYSE velvet dresses in jewel coloured velvet are also festive without being too showy.

My first thought was velvet dress as they will be easy to get and are dressy perfect for this time of year too

Thank you, some lovely suggestions but nothing that is the one. I think I need to order some to try on as it's difficult to gage what will suit me. I think I have more of an idea now so thanks all.
