How can I get my hair to curl? Run out of ideas!

Hi! I have medium length straight hair and I'd really love to curl it but the curls never stay in. I've tried mousse and hairspray followed by curling tongs but no matter what I do, usually within about 30 minutes my hair is straight again.

Just wondering if there's any 'wonder products' I've not heard of or a way of doing it so the curls stay in?

Have you tried using ‘rags’. My daughter has really straight hair that doesn’t hold a curl. Damp hair rolled up into strips of an old T-shirt and tied at the top. It holds all day

Haven't tried that yet. Does she put any products on it too or just plain damp hair?

Try the bendy rubber curl rods overnight . Put them in when hair is damp and use curl spray if you wish . Gently comb through with a wide tooth comb when you take them out .

I wait a day or so after washing then put mousse on dry hair, then use https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4375793?clickPR=plp:6:13 then tease out the curls and yse a hair spray to set. Usually lasts a few days.

A bit of mousse and some hairspray once she’s styled it in the morning.

Shes also used heated rollers for a couple of special occasions. That’s a bit of a faff though!

do you get it curled after a cut at the hairdressers, and if so, do they stay in then? If so, maybe look at what they use and how they do it.

my hair would never hold a curl as a teenager, until I tried heated rollers! Theres a lot to be said for letting the hair cool fully afterwards, which is why maybe they don’t hold with a tong.

Do it a day after you have washed your hair. Use hairspray before and after curling, curl each strand twice

I use heated rollers - wash hair, apply mousse, roughly blow dry and then put the rollers in. I've got collar bone length hair.

About 30- 40 mins is usually long enough then take rollers out and spray with hairspray.

The curls do drop a bit through the day but that would be the case regardless of what method was used.

I can wash dry roll unroll and spray in the 1 hour 15 mins I have each morning between getting up and getting me and 2 kids out of the door for work/ school. I do breakfast/make up/ water bottles etc while the rollers are in.
