Looking for a decent crew neck jumper. Any recommendations please.

I have dozens of cashmere jumpers I've collected over the years. IMO Cos do the best quality at a reasonable price.

PhDtax · 02/11/2023 22:20

Just bought two from TKMaxx. Lovely quality.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 02/11/2023 22:47

Uniqlo

Ipadannie · 02/11/2023 22:50

Johnstons is fab

aloadofbowlocks · 02/11/2023 22:56

M&S, but size up as they shrink a bit.

ElliePhant28 · 03/11/2023 11:37

Thanks all. I bought M&S years ago and was really disappointed as it didn't last well. Thought that's why they were cheaper.

I was looking at Cos but wasn't sure about quality. @betsyannegrey that's good to know.

Johnstons & Pringle. I buy them from their factory outlets in Scotland. Never had a problem with M&S ones that I’ve sometimes bought.

I always buy Brora in the sale, wear them constantly, and they look good as new years on.

I would never knowingly buy cashmere. It's animal cruelty. Not only do cashmere goats suffer through the distressing combing process—as well as painful mutilations like castration (for males) without pain relief—they are killed once they are of little financial value. Goats would naturally live to be about twelve years old, though some have lived far older.

Pure Cashmere is not bad for the price (I buy in the sale) and lasts pretty well if you buy the more classic cashmere (not the gassato or other looser knits)

Boden cashmere is good quality IME, nice and thick, actually better than some more expensive brands

Me&Em cashmere is good but expensive, but good if you can find it in the sale

Denner is not well known, a little old fashioned but good for the price

I suggest discount sites like BrandAlley as they are often good for cashmere.

Brora are definitely quality but really expensive even in the sale.

Best cashmere sales are in the spring/summer of course

This company don't make jumpers but they do recycle cashmere and make fabulous hats, scarves and gloves.

So for those who prefer to buy recycled this is a great site: www.turtle-doves.co.uk/womens

Nospecialcharactersplease · 03/11/2023 12:35

Lilysilk. And there is someone who sells it new on eBay for about half price.

windmill26 · 03/11/2023 16:45

Uniqlo ,Theory , Begg & Co , Joseph plus Cos ,Brora, Johnstons & Pringle already mentioned above. I keep seeing Rise & Fall on Istagram but I wouldn't know the quality as I haven't bought anything from them yet. If you want the best cashmere out there you'll find it at Loro Piana but it is £££££.

Sibbytwo · 10/12/2023 15:26

If you like Loro PIana cashmere, try Aethel. They knit their sweaters from Loro Piana cashmere in the UK somewhere in London I think. They don't have a shop though. I have one of their sweaters, it is very soft and it has lasted well. Otherwise Uniqlo for me. great value, not quite as soft but lasts well too.
