Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

Some 20% or 25% reductions on the calendars at JL eg Lumene/Rituals/MB/L’Occitane:

I don't think this one is for me but I do like a boots beauty box. Slight increase in price though so maybe they are hiking them up a bit

piddocktrumperiness · 15/11/2023 07:54

Genuine question as I am unsure what to get- never bought one for myself but I would like to treat myself next year to a nice one.

What do you do with all the products? Do you use them all? I worry about clutter. Say I get a hand lotion tube which is great then 4 days later I get another one, when I still haven't finished the first one- do you find you use all the products or do you end up with a lot of 'meh' clutter.

shinny · 15/11/2023 07:54

I was just checking out Liberty and read the beauty drop. It sounds great - £20 a month for £300 worth of quarterly boxes plus you can put your money towards the AC at year end. Can anyone say if it’s as good as it looks? I wasn’t all that keen on Oct box but it sounds exciting.

@FinallyFinalGirl oooh, the Sephora boxes look fab! Which ones did you buy for your teen please as considering for my two

I got her the fragrance collection and the make up collection. I also got her a cracker - the glow one IIRC. I was spoilt for choice but went for those as I think they would appeal most to her.

Great choices - they’re lovely

Bit of both tbh, I've had multiple calendars for the past few years. Add in a few beauty boxes and at the moment I do have a lot of stuff. I wouldn't call it clutter as I have it packed away, and I'm making a conscious effort to use it all up, e.g. if I run out of an exfoliators or moisturiser, I check my stash before I buy any more. Hand creams will always get used, but things like mascaras, eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks take longer for me to use up. I try not to open one until the previous one is done, as that's how you end up with lots of unused clutter IMO

FinallyFinalGirl · 15/11/2023 08:08

Thanks Em...she should love them. She has really got into make up and scent this year but only has a few things from the semi-chem so this will be a real treat for her.

Peridot1 · 15/11/2023 08:13

I still haven’t bought one. Can’t believe I have held out so long. Am hoping they all either sell out or there are some amazing Black Friday deals! Although I keep looking in my stash drawers to remind me just why I don’t need one!

@piddocktrumperiness - you can end up with things you don’t or won’t use. But you can sell them on eBay or Vinted. Small sizes of things I tend to keep separately and use when travelling.

Lovethatforyouhun · 15/11/2023 08:33

Asos is back in stock… full
price.

I'm like @Peridot1and it's a bit of both for me too. EDIT @Possimpible

All my skincare is out and being used because I bought my bathroom cabinet of dreams when I moved house last year. I love selecting from all my products each day but realistically I have way too many from previous advent calendars and all the beauty boxes I buy.
Also, when I really love a product it's impossible to justify rebuying at full price because I have so many alternatives and also knowing beauty boxes are much better value eg the All in One Concentrate from Venn that was amazing. My one exception is the Paula's Choice toner which I re-buy as soon as it runs out now.

Hand creams I use alot, I have one in my bedroom, living room, car, handbag etc.

I have a big stash of the not so exciting things like pillow sprays, roller balls and hair products that aren't great for my afro hair. These are things that I should have sold on Vinted maybe or could donate unopened ones to charity.

Stokey · 15/11/2023 08:49

@shinny I thought the beauty box was ok but not that exciting. I did it for a year and then used the credit and cancelled it.

Like @Peridot1 and @Branster I haven't caved and bought a calendar this year and don't know if I will. I have so many unused items. I like the idea of @AprilLady IKEA sorting system but don't know where I'd put it!

@Moofart I think the Beauty box would be good if I didn't already have a stash with loads of similar products!

QueefofSheena · 15/11/2023 09:18

Adult DS bought the Sephora perfume box as a gift. I had a look when it arrived and it looks really nice. I’d be happy to get one

As a reforming beauty addict I'd say it's an issue - I have literally hundreds of tiny pots of moisturiser, facewash etc. No beauty calendars for me until I've worked my way through all of them so read this thread vicariously. I am very addicted to gift with purchases though and if I do need something like shampoo I will only buy with a gwp attached and then end up with more clutter. Luckily I have lots of storage in my bathroom and luckily adult dds who now take a lot of the stuff away from me, I'm also religious about recyling the tiny pots at L'Occitane as I've become very aware how environmentally unfriendly they are ... even recyling isn't great so I need to cut down even further

JoeyRamonesHair · 15/11/2023 10:11

@Twinsandsome - thank you! Just realised I can also buy it through Quidco so fingers crossed for a double discount.

TheDuchessOfMN · 15/11/2023 10:26

@OchonAgusOchonOh Not sure if some of us were tagging one another or not.. my notifications go to my junk emails and I’ve been too busy to keep up.
The boots showstopper box is in stock for us, but I’m definitely not getting it or anything else - I have the boots advent calendar. I went through all my products recently and I still have a lot from last year. Just thought you might like to know (€90). The awards winner one was never in stock, whenever I checked anyway.

Having said that, I would be very tempted if one of the luxury ones went to half price, but I really don’t think that will happen!

PomRuns · 15/11/2023 06:57

I totally agree re vogue @FinallyFinalGirl

liberty mercury kit is now £56 plus 20% off beauty.

OMG it has incense sticks! I haven't seen one of those since about 1997. I didn't know they still existed

shinny · 15/11/2023 11:30

Thanks @Stokey and @TreesinthePark for the heads up re Liberty Beauty Drop. I’ll be signing up if I don’t get a bargain AC. Got my eye on HN as I’m craving some Augustus Bader cream and fancy shampoo.
don’t fancy the Boots Box.
Great you got your Vogue refund @LaBrujaPiruja

Thanks @TheDuchessOfMN

I am going to resist. I also have the Boots premium and I also bought the No 7 for advent as it is full of sensible stuff I will use.

I did try and buy the showstopper box either last year or the year before and never got it. They refunded me in the end. I don't think they shopped any in Ireland that year.

kerstina · 15/11/2023 13:10

How long does the degusta advent calender take to come ? I am a bit concerned because I did it through my PayPal but put my sons Uni address.

QueefofSheena · 15/11/2023 13:22

I went for Flannels in the end, to open in ‘the middle bit’ after Christmas. I’m away over Christmas and we are only taking small stocking gifts, so it will be nice to look forward to. I’m absolutely done now and I’m on a no beauty spend 2024 until next advent season, apart from my Liberty BD 😬😁
