Boden sizing for boys (coats)

Hi,
DS is 8 (small for his size and will turn 9 in April). I’ve found a lovely coat I want to buy him for Christmas. I’m not sure whether to get it in age 8-9 or 9-10. It’s expensive and I want him to get a decent amount of wear from it but I have never bought anything from Boden before. As I say he is small for his size but he could shoot up or have a growth spurt. Has anyone on here purchased children’s clothes from Boden before and if so can you advise?

In my opinion boden comes up. Very small, my two boys both 3 and 5 have had different things from there, shirts, pyjamas and jumpers. I find it comes up very small. We always size up a couple of sizes. Hope that helps xx

I bought 8-9 and 7-8 for a 7 year old and a 6 year old last year. I always buy a size up as much as anything else wanting to get 2 years out of them. I sometimes think the bodies should be longer for the size but that’s just me possibly. It’s easy I think to order 2 sizes if you can and return once you’ve made a comparison.
