How to look good when I feel shit?

I‘m going out tonight for the first time in months. I‘ve been looking forward to it for ages and have been excited about getting dressed up and doing my make up nice etc.

However my period is now 5 days late and I feel like crap (definitely not pregnant unless by immaculate conception). I feel bloated and fat, spotty, ugly and exhausted.

Does anyone have any magic tricks to help me look and feel my best? I’m already planning on wearing a loose dress with spanx underneath.

drink lots of water all day until about 2 hours before- lots of peeing but you will feel less bloated.
Go for a brisk walk this morning- you'll feel lighter.
Spot plasters on any big spots
Facemask before your skincare and makeup

I bet you look fab anyways, but these few things help me just before period

A bath, with a face mask and candles, if
you have one. Take your time getting ready, put some good, mood enhancing music on and dance. Honestly, it helps.

Hope you have a good night.

I would focus on hair.
I say this because mine is the bane of my life, and has a mind of it's own. When it sees fit to honour me with something even remotely resembling decent, I am over the bloody moon.
I have no idea what your hair type is or how you prefer to wear it, but I do think every outfit and look rests on the hair, at least for me.
Everything else may be subtle, understated, wear what feels comfortable so that you are not fidgeting or rearranging things all evening.

A good dress thrown on can solve a lot of issues in a heartbeat. if you are feeling challenged this might be a good idea since it saves you having to toot around sorting different elements of an outfit.
Shoes, hair and makeup - everything else will shine along with those three.

I wanted to wear my hair down because I always wear it in a ponytail. But I haven’t had it cut in over a year and it looks pretty bad.

I‘m going to wear this dress, it’s the only thing I have that doesn’t cling to my stomach. I’m bloated, but have also put on a few pounds in the past month 😫

Planning on wearing opaque black tights and ankle boots.

If you can curl your hair it tends to make it look less frizzy/broken/poorly cut, I find, so maybe try that?
