Stylish overnight/weekender bag for DH

The time DH and I went away to a naice hotel in the country he rocked up with his stuff in a massive sports hold-all, complete with muddy bottom, that he uses for his cycling trips. We were only there for one night so it was completely over the top in size for the duration of our stay.

I realised he doesn’t have anything appropriate, probably because we’ve only just started having weekends away again now our teens are finally old enough to be left overnight. I’d like to buy him a smart, yet sporty overnight bag for Christmas that would be fitting to a slightly posh weekend away. Can anyone recommend anything?
He likes Rapha for stylish accessories but they don’t have any bags suitable.

Lakeland Leathers do some lovely big leather holdalls.

Elvis and Kresse do lovely reclaimed bags, made from old fire hose, very cool

Bought my DH a Barbour holdall in Black Friday sales which he likes. More sporty are the Rains ones.

Not stylish, but I tend to use either my massive North Face duffel or my Fjallraven split pack for posh country hotel weekends. See lots of others using their NF duffels also (in all states of disrepair!). I prefer something simple without fuss and use luggage / packing cubes. I've just bought this, which is slightly smaller.

I bought my husband this from Osprey. He is lucky enough to travel on private jets regularly, quite often alone. He remarked that he often wondered what people thought of the scruffy bloke with the 1990s wheeled suitcase getting off a multi million pound plane. So I bought it for his birthday, he still often looks scruffy, but at least his bag doesn't!

DH has a lovely holdall from Jekyll and Hide

bellac11 · 27/10/2023 21:22

A leather rucksack?

GoudaThunkIt · 27/10/2023 21:51

Thank you all, there’s some smashing ideas here. I really like the fire hose ones, what a lovely idea!

@rwalker neither of us were bothered in the slightest about his muddy bag, it gave us a laugh in rather smart surroundings. It’s just not the sort of thing DH would buy himself hence the gift.

John Lewis. Lots of brands, but their own ones are very reasonable imo
