My best colour is dark (chocolate) brown. It looks great on me. I have auburn hair and hazel eyes. But it's so hard to come by! I've had a gorgeous baggy sweater that my Mum made for Dad but then didn't like it so she gave it to me. I've loved it but it's falling apart. I regret not commissioning my Mum to knit another and, sadly, she passed away a few months ago. My days of handmade sweaters are over. Ironically, the ones she made especially for me were always not quite the right style or colour. Dad's rejects were the best.

Anyway, I digress. I've spent the evening googling 'chocolate brown sweater' and barely anything comes up.

Also blouses / tops would in that colour would be nice.

Brown is very fashionable at the moment, so there's a lot more of it in the shops than in recent years.

I have a brown knitted dress from Abercrombie and Fitch which I brought 3 years ago, sadly I've ruined it by getting bleach on it but the quality is amazing!

Morning!
Gosh - thank you all so much. This is like having a team of personal shoppers.
@Hodgewell1 - what a coincidence - that Telegraph article was literally this week. Who knew that me (frumpy 54) was going to be at the cutting edge this year.
I shall have to venture into some real-life shops and have a look at all this brown. I really find shopping difficult (self-image, although at least I do know what my colours are, thanks to a friend's Mum who did my colour wheel/chart thing about 30 years ago). I tend to just buy the same, safe old things online.

Cashmere is a bit beyond me in price, but those Uniqlo merino sweaters look really good. they have a nice light green, too, which is my other best colour. I can order today and pick up tomorrow as I'll be passing one of their stores.

The M&S cable knit looks nice too. I buy lots of stuff from M&S as I just order online and pick it up in the food store at the station on the way home from work! I do need to refind the pleasure in browsing in real shops though.

Thanks again.

@wottawottawotta I currently own one of the merino jumers and they machine wash incredibly well. They are very thin, but very warm. Another plus for me is that the arms are long enough for my long arms.

I am just about to order another one.

@RampantIvy that's good to know re. washing! Placing the order now!
