Uggs - yes or no

I've always kind of disliked Ugg boots but I'm warming to them.

What's your opinion?

I like them - not the classic style but I've had a lot of high top or hiker style boots from them over the years. They are very good quality IMO. Warm too.

I have some but only wear them indoors as slippers, think I'd feel a little slovenly wearing them outside my house. I have some fleece lined leather boots for outdoor

KissTheRains · 25/10/2023 16:24

I had some cheap eBay knock offs that I used for slippers one year, they kept my feet lovely and warm, but so absorbent I reckon they inhaled puddles on the drive when I tried to wear them out. They sucked water up quicker than a Vileda Mop. No idea if proper uggs are similar, put me off spending more than £15 tbf.

Findyourneutralspace · 25/10/2023 16:25

Slippers, but the kind it’s ok to nip to the corner shop in

SiobhanSharpe · 25/10/2023 16:30

I think Celtic Sheepskin boots, while a similar design, look a lot more stylish and flattering. They're very comfortable too, a few of them have a better heel which gives more support.

Groovee · 25/10/2023 16:34

I like the Costco version. I have Uggs but the Costco ones are cosier.

BurningTheToast · 25/10/2023 17:40

I wear my sheepskin boots mostly in the house but don't mind nipping to the shops in them.

I live in the country in Scotland and they're the only way my feet are warm in the winter! I buy the ones from Celtic and their water resistant Aqua Lamb ones are great for nipping out with the dogs last thing.

Uggs and their ilk are very contentious here but I wouldn't be without a pair.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/10/2023 17:44

They are so warm and cosy. I only really wear them as slippers.

But my feet are so toastie.

MrsRetriever · 25/10/2023 17:52

I have a water-resistant pair similar colour to the ones @SiobhanSharpe posted and I wear them for winter commuting if I’m walking about a lot. Had them about ten years now and they’re only just starting to look a little worn, so good value for the price paid.

I was about 20 when they first entered mainstream UK fashion but never did the tan boots/denim skirt look.

Hibambinos · 25/10/2023 17:53

I have uggs and they are great. I have had three pairs and they are excellent for winter when your feet are freezing

BurningTheToast · 25/10/2023 17:56

Also, Celtic are made from British sheepskin, in Britain, and more environmentally friendly as they will repair and/or resole them. I'm aware the first part of that sentence might sound a wee bit Brexity but frankly UK farmers need all the business they can get.

CheerfulBunny · 25/10/2023 18:24

I've had a pair of the classic tan suede Uggs for over 10 years and they still look great and are butter soft, although I don't wear them outside anymore. They're the warmest slippers you'll ever find, especially if you've got stone floors. I wore mine skiing in Canada years ago at minus 30 and was toasty warm all over! They're miraculous things to keep you warm when it's really cold.

MrsKeats · 25/10/2023 18:25

Emu boots are lovely.

amylou8 · 25/10/2023 18:30

I have an ankle pair that I've been wearing as slippers for years, but fashion conscious DD20, who wouldn't be seen dead in anything else I wear, keeps nicking them and leaving the house wearing them...so I guess they're making a come back.

SkyFullofStars1975 · 25/10/2023 18:34

I had a pair of Ugg chelsea boots that I absolutely lived in, until the ruddy new puppy chewed through them. I nearly cried, I was so attached to them.

They were waterproof and incredibly warm. Think they were Bonham, this has reminded me to look if they still do them.

Same here. Classics are awful. The proper boots are nice.
