So not a thread about a thread, but for those who have been following the "pursuit of elegance" thread that has been moved to Mumsnet classics (https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/3797652-thanks-to-s-b-i-m-finally-winning-in-the-pursuit-of-elegance), I wonder if there is anyone else out there who would like to have some company while doing this.
I'm really miserable at the moment and need something to take my mind off other problems so thought I'd have a go at this. I have hugely reduced my wardrobe and am about to do my spreadsheet of what remains. It has been really interesting because I would not have thought that I liked the things that I apparently do. Generally I like plain things, but have a penchant for Me + Em florals. For work, I prefer navy to black. I don't like t-shirts at all, and long sleeved tees have to be Henleys, apparently. My underwear needs a bit of a refresh. I ha(ve)(d) too many jeans - but I only wear about three pairs.
Evening wear is black and plain. I like knitwear and one pieces (despite failing to wear the latter particularly frequently). For some reason I like orange knitwear. I should probably get rid of some more of it. I have a tendency to buy "sweater vests".
My "go to" brands are: Me + Em, Hush, Boden (euch, sorry, but some of their plainer things are useful) and Toast.
Reasonably happy with what I have but I need an alternative to my Aspinal leather rucksack (not least because it needs repairing). I don't like or use handbags really. My footwear is not great. I struggle to find "smart" or "going out" shoes because basically wearing anything that isn't an ankle boot is crippling. I'd like to wear more of my jewellery and in different ways and combinations. I'd like to be more polished, so maybe do something with my nails?!
Come join me on the journey to elegance. Or somewhere close, anyway.
