Can I wear this as MOB?

Bellabluea · 20/10/2023 14:10

Im quite a young mother of the bride - early 40’s and everything I look at seems very matronly.
I ordered this and it looks great on - I’d pair with a big pink hat and maybe a pink shawl/pashmina? May wedding so weather could go either way.
Im 6 foot tall and a size 14 if that helps.

Can I wear this as MOB?

@Bellabluea ,just wear a lacy fringed shawl or something. You'll look stunning with your height and toned arms..

Rina66 · 20/10/2023 20:58

@KirstenBlest sorry, I don't understand? I thought we had all agreed to not moan about Joanie anymore?

When did this happen?

ShouldGoToBed · 20/10/2023 21:01

I think it’s beautiful. Now off to lift some weights!

Bellabluea · 20/10/2023 21:05

Just jumping in that I have a beautiful Joanie dress. I agree a lot of them are not to everyone’s tastes but I love mine.

The kimono is the nearest, @NatashaDancing .

As for my bombshell reply, was in reply to @itsmeagainagain . OP said

I quoted the wrong reply.

I don't like Bombshell or Nancy Mac.

@bronkie ,one of the posters on here suggested a brand of clothing and there was a pile up. There were deleted posts, by the poster (A) , but most of the thread seemed to be the pile-up.
I can't comment on the deleted posts because I didn't see them, and I think that 'A' has a taste that is different and often interesting. I often don't have the same taste but sometimes it's refreshing to have new suggestions.

Piling up on a poster is not pleasant.

I've had it done to me and had mean comments about me on vaguely related threads. We're not mean girls in the school yard.

NatashaDancing · 20/10/2023 21:20

It's a dress which will move beautifully.

Not sure about the brand in general

Ok thanks I just checked as I was on that thread.

@Nishky32 sorry I take it back that was a bit harsh!

ahh ignore me, just being a bit of a grump

it’s a strangely sensitive topic clothing isn’t it….

itsmeagainagain · 20/10/2023 21:39

Yes totally! Also I may have had wine @Nishky32 x

Bombshell reminds me of Kat Slater from at least 20 years ago definitely matronly

LaviniasBigBloomers · 20/10/2023 21:46

I actually love that dress but think it's better to dress for the weather rather than drape a pashmina over something. There is nothing more ageing than a pashmina. Unless it's a fascinator. So just grin and bear it OP, don't go ruining the look with a bolero or A.N other bit of hideousness.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 20/10/2023 21:53

Nice dress. Wish I had the arms for it!

If you like it, keep it and put it away and don't shop for any more!

I disagree, I think a good pashmina, or a cashmere wrap, to use a more modern term, and you can look very elegant. She doesn’t need to dress like she’s 20. And you can pick up a good cashmere wrap quite cheaply now. Some sites sell seconds where you’d not even know.

Yoyoban · 20/10/2023 22:07

Maybe it looks better in person but the lace top looks quite tacky and cheap to me. I'd keep looking.

That's nicer than the dresses. You could get a lot of wear out of that, over something very plain underneath)

Anyhoo MN's targeted advertisements are as weird as ever. This has just popped up.

How can this possibly be connected to the thread subject

(Sorry OP the algorithms are utterly bonkers)

You COULD wear it but why would you wantcto?

Because she likes it 😏

DrMarshaFieldstone · 20/10/2023 22:42

I am picturing OP as Hannah Waddingham and think that dress will look absolutely fabulous. Please don’t cover it up with a pashmina!

Why do the misfits of society, who don't have a shred of good manners between them, always find their way onto MN? No doubt they have alienated people in real life so have to resort to being downright unpleasant to complete strangers. I feel sorry for them in a way.

Rina66 · 21/10/2023 07:38

How about an organza or silk wrap, I was thinking the wedding was imminent so suggested fur, but I've read again and see it's actually May.

If you live somewhere near where there is an Indian Saree shop, they sell some beautiful pure silk fabrics in every colour that you could have made in to a wrap.
