soft cord or velvet suit

I have an idea about having a lovely soft cord blazer and trousers (probably 7/8 length)
Should be stretchyish not stiff, in deepest brown or dark burgundy or forest green
size 14 and budget is healthy for the right thing

My question is - should I go for cord or velvet or get cord trousers with a velvet jacket that will match ? I want to wear it together, then split it up- using the suit as the basis of a capsule wardrobe. Anyone seen anything nice that fits the brief?

I guess it depends on the fashion mood of the times. In the past I’ve worn a velvet jacket as daywear, but right now it might feel oddly overdressed.
