Slightly fancy pub meal

Off for a pub meal on Saturday night with DHs side of the family. We very rarely get together and there will be a couple of new people I'll be meeting. Casual pub but due to the occasion, I feel like making an effort.

What shall I wear?

Just don't order bum and chips @LunaNorth 😆

😂

If you're going to wear one of those tent dresses, order anything you like. If you don't like it, you can hide it in the dress and claim it never arrived at all. If the waiter challenges you, stick him in there too.

I don’t like that green crumpled thing at all. And unless it’s made out of spun silk, the price seems on the high side to say the least.

this is my new dress . I like it. The shape works for me and I like the fact it’s not got acres of tiers.

I ordered that dress after reading your post and it's just been delivered and is fab. I'm 5ft 4" and it's about knee level on me, love the fact it has pockets too.
Thanks for the link.

I'm so glad you like it. Must admit, I'd have preferred it to not have pockets, as I never think they sit quite properly. Love the colour, and the feel of the fabric.

I'm sorry i really dont like the Joanie dresses. They look so frumpy to me. I would go.something autumnal or even wintery. Jewel colours perhaps . Bit more slinky , more fitted. Possibly a wrap style dress.

Or nice jeans , boots and a fitted top

Fleetress · 23/10/2023 19:45

Must say I was completely unfamiliar with the Joanie website - so was persuaded to have a look. Interesting …

I might not wear this myself, but I’d probably go and compliment anyone I saw in it on a night out anywhere. And it’s equally lovely in the emerald or charcoal colours.

Some might consider this too dressy for the local pub, but it looks like the sort of dress you put on at the end of November and don’t take off until January 2nd.

And this is frankly gorgeous - very Sister Jane. Grin For the pub I’d add big boots, thick tights, and a huge chunky cardigan slung over the shoulders:

So, all things considered, it seems a perfectly sensible website to suggest. I guess everyone sees what they want to?

Fey Metallic Knit Midaxi Dress - Gold

We always thought the disco ball was our favourite thing about the dancefloor, but thanks to the arrival of Fey, this shimmering little superstar is our new favourite! Boasting a midaxi length, high neck and long sleeves with frill hems, keyhole with t...

I love it. The only thing that puts me off buying it is the frills. It looks like a heavy swingy material like a shirt I have and love. I'd punk the shit out of it but I just can't get past the frills. Great find though.

EverythingLouderThanEverythingElse · 24/10/2023 08:54

It's a lovely heavy fabric, I actually think it's nicer in real life than how it looks on the model.
The only frill is the neckline, I'm not usually a dress person at all and definitely not frilly, it could look quite gothic with something like a black choker. Well worth £45 and I've just ordered the green version.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2023 17:27

Agreed.

I'm also buying the green.
