What do you do to get rid of chin hairs?!

Littlemiss74 · 18/10/2023 10:18

I’m at the age for delightful chin hairs sprouting. At first it was a couple so i just used tweezers but now there are more. I can’t always see them at home and then will have a look in car mirror as about to go to work and be like omg!😄Alot of it is fair & fluffy but then there will be a few darker ones too.
I’m thinking of booking a chin wax but am wondering will they grow back worse?
I asked the lady who was waxing my eyebrows and she recommended electrolysis but it’s expensive and also she said can take a while to see results.
I’m feeling a bit self conscious of it now so would like to do something but not sure of the best thing.
Can anyone vouch for waxing?

I found electrolysis really effective, but I seem to have been lucky, as most troublesome hairs only took 1 or 2 treatments. I have the odd session to deal with new ones.

'I don't even use a mirror most of the time.' Are you that professional @cornflakesandtea ? Respect!

Haha no, just that obsessive! I've gotten pretty good!

Plucking the coarse ones with magnifying mirror and torch, but hate the cost of good tweezers.

Dermaplaining really, really works for peach fluff. Skincare and makeup goes on so much nicer as well. I have super sensitive mature skin prone to breakouts so I was dubious but I'm delighted. I do it dry, maybe every 3-4 months, the whole face including my neck, but chin, sideburns and neck are "worst". Bought the really fancy one from stacked skincare when dermaplaning became trendy a few years back and it works extremely well, but then I couldn't justify buying new blades as v ££.
Recently tried a mutlipack from Kitsch 'eco friendly dermaplaner' 12 for £8 from Lookfantastic on a whim, they work just as well!

I pluck the thick ones and use a dermaplane tool for the fluffy ones.

Me to. FFS do really good dermplane tool

muchalover · 18/10/2023 13:40

Shave them.

They did studies which found no adverse effects by making them or others thicker. It's just blunt ends which feel thicker but aren't.

I’m of the age but don’t have them. I do have a fear im missing them though so I should go and have a really good look. I’m sort of hoping HRT is mitigating this joy.

HRT doesn't mitigate this joy 😒🙄

I have a mini epilator that I use once a week. Takes less than a minute, and not too painful. Upper lip is painful though, so I don't do that, but luckily don't really have an issue there.

Middleagedmeangirls · 18/10/2023 13:50

The springy thing is good on peach fuzz and finer hairs. Tweezers for the few stubborn buggers that the spring can't pull out.

Oblomov23 · 18/10/2023 13:52

Electrolysis. I've never plucked mine or waxed or anything.

headcheffer · 18/10/2023 13:53

I shave them and use a Lumea afterwards. It's reduced them a lot.

JadeSeahorse · 18/10/2023 13:55

I have the Flawless Finish tools which are battery operated. (JML sell them but they are cheaper on ebay.)

I have one for the face and one for eyebrows.

I find them excellent and no pain at all.

HaddawayAndShite · 18/10/2023 13:55

I don't even use a mirror most of the time.
lmao I do this but with my nails. When watching tv. Just sit and feel and then yark them out. It doesn’t work great but it’s even more satisfying than using tweezers. Mine are thiccccc though so easier to grip with nails 😂

swirlingabyss · 18/10/2023 13:57

Mirror that enlarges (small handheld that makes it look bigger) and tweezers kept on my WFH desk. Whenever I can feel them growing I pull them out in good light! Probably pull a few a week.

I did read spearmint tea can help with balancing hormones to stop them growing as much, but it aggravates my endo. Might be worth others trying though?

BeverlyBrook · 18/10/2023 13:57

Skip to the end and book Lazer treatment

Liguinelover · 18/10/2023 14:08

I just want to add that I had one. And it was so long under my skin, that when I plucked it - it left a deep and angry hole! It never really healed, the hair grew and I plucked it out again.

This happened a few times.
I have accidentally damaged the skin and now I'm left with a hard bump on my chin where the scar tissue is raised and hair underneath.

I have tried topical creams, exfoliating, bio oil, salicylic acid, magnesium sulphate etc etc

I now look like a witch with a warty chin ☹️

Anyone else had this and can help?🧙‍♀️

AndWordsWhen · 18/10/2023 14:13

Tweeze the biggies.
Shave the fluff.

mumofgirls35 · 18/10/2023 14:15

pluck pluck pluck. i actually get a weird satisfaction from it.

bonzaitree · 18/10/2023 14:16

Dépends how much you want to spend.

If you want to spend £50 per month have an electrolysis session.

If you want to spend £10 per month (if that) it is shaving and plucking.

Electrolysis is permanent. Shaving and plucking you’ll have to deal with once or twice a week.

piscofrisco · 18/10/2023 14:26

Dermaplane. And I've got a Philips Lumea

SausageAndEggSandwich · 18/10/2023 14:27

I used to go at the peach fuzz and witchy chin hairs with a spring tool/tweezers and then shaving and IPL for the ones I definitely wanted to zap

But it was all such a massive effort & now I get waxed once a month and eyebrows done as well

I do still IPL the neck hairs but that's a relatively small area and I can manage. Otherwise it's a daily job and I just cba

howrudeforme · 18/10/2023 14:33

Philips lumea. But only works where the hair is much darker than your skin.

dealt with my tash and the very weird eyelash hairs on my chin.

persisted · 18/10/2023 14:33

Electrolysis every 6 weeks, trim them in between.
It does make them go away, but doesn't prevent new ones from growing.

I'm happy enough that I'm keeping a lid on them and they're not accumulating over the years.

persisted · 18/10/2023 14:33

.

bellsbuss · 18/10/2023 14:35

Tweezers , I found a long one growing out of my neck recently much to my horror. So it's chin and neck for me now
