Chin Hairs FFS

Why do these pesky hairs seem to hide in plain sight!

Had a scour of my chin before I went away and now i'm here they all seem to have sprouted out of nowhere. Bright mirror lights are showing all of them up!!

Tried to get them out (forgot my tweezers) and they spring back on themselves like christmas ribbon you've scissored. Aaarrgghhh

No one tells you about this stuff!

It’s fucking marvellous isn’t it? I spent ten minutes this morning locating the one I could feel but not see in normal lighting. Urgh!

AMuser · 13/08/2023 20:37

I’ve nearly started this thread so often. I’m 50 and my chin hairs and a couple on my neck are like a full time fucking job. I have to carry tweezers everywhere. If I can’t get one when I first feel it it drives me nuts. There is a brief lull when they are in the non growing phase but most days it’s constant. I need laser.
it’s really satisfying when you get a big thick white one on the first go tho!

madeinmanc · 13/08/2023 20:38

I was wondering if you can remove them with electrolysis? I can't stand them.

WhisperingHi · 13/08/2023 20:39

Haha it's horrible when you find one and you've forgotten your tweezers!

On a related but different note, does anyone else get the long, very fine, white hairs? I get one that grows out of my back and another from one boob. It's so strange and they're so fine that I often only realise when they're a few inches long!

AlanJohnsonsBeamer · 13/08/2023 20:40

I have one that grows on the underneath of my chin and I always look for it when doing my eyebrows. I was horrified recently to see it in natural lighting right after being out for the day with friends 🙈

It was so bloody obvious as well. Sigh

MissAtomicBomb1 · 13/08/2023 20:41

Ugh! I feel your pain!
I thought the Phillips Lumea had eliminated mine but they've defeated it by growing back bloody WHITE!!

Hohofortherobbers · 13/08/2023 20:41

Absolutely, and what other hair grows so suddenly??! I can put in a serious morning tweezing session and be smooth as a baby's bum then one quarter inch bastard has sprouted before teatime. How?!!

Switcherooza · 13/08/2023 20:42

I got one of those electric whizzy sticks to get rid of all the peach fuzz. Works a dream on the fine fluff but when you go over one of those long hairs it really tugs and stings!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 13/08/2023 20:43

I know the pain I fear being a bearded lady if I don't carry tweezers.
My daughter promised me if I'm ever in a coma she will keep my chin hairs under control Blush

Iclyn · 13/08/2023 20:44

I don't grow hairs but stubby whiskers ! scratchy little buggers !😂
I carry one of those spring things that everyone went mad with on here a good few years ago.

Does the Phillips Lumea not work on white hairs then? Do you think the Phillips Lumea caused this pigment loss?

tillytoodles1 · 13/08/2023 20:47

I have a tiny mole on my cheek, no bigger than a freckle. I have a hair that grows there that I pluck on a regular basis, one day its not there but the next day its about two inched long.

SiobhanSharpe · 13/08/2023 20:51

I feel your pain, OP. i have a collection of tweezers to rival um, I don't know, Tweezie McTweezerman?
If i ever feel one of the wiry little bastards at any time I have to get it out immediately. Several half hour sessions a week with a good light, magnifying mirror and my Swiss Army Knife tweezers are needed to keep it sll under control. Even then they can escape -- I just plucked out a curly bugger about 3 cm long right on my jawline. Even DH noticed it. Shudder.

fandjango · 13/08/2023 20:54

A few years back I was at a wedding. Late 20s and I felt a tickle on my chest.

To my horror it was a hair..not a normal hair but a chin hair tickling my chest! I was absolutely mortified and sitting there during the vows trying to pluck it out!!

MissAtomicBomb1 · 13/08/2023 21:05

@ConcernedCatmother They are definitely much better post Lumea. I would have to pluck daily whereas now it's possibly weekly and then only the odd dark hair.
I'm not sure if the Lumea caused the white hairs or whether there were just so many dark ones before that I didn't notice them!

Tilllly · 13/08/2023 21:07

And I get freak eyebrow hair too

Vvv long and white

Chin wise, nearly clear thanks to epilator

Christ OP!?! A chin hair that grew so long it touched your chest?

BCBird · 13/08/2023 21:21

Have to keep.my female beard at bay with laser-not kidding

I'm having electrolysis

It's a very long process
They are greatly reduced but not gone. It's been 12 months

fandjango · 13/08/2023 21:24

@AMuser i wish i was lying! it was the first one I ever found and i've been paranoid ever since. Why didn't I see it, why didn't anyone else see it! it must have been monstrous!!

Another beardy weirdy here, I use Phillips Lumea, it definitely works but you have to do the maintenance or they come back ☹️ the Lumea stops the ingrowing hairs too.

@Switcherooza

would you mind linking to your stick??

JengaNonConfirming · 13/08/2023 21:27

I'm sure they grow more in the sun!! My daughter is under instructions that if I'm ever in a coma, she's to visit regularly with tweezers and a strong light 🤣🤣

KCandtheSunlightBand · 13/08/2023 21:32

I have made my children promise that they will tell me if the moustache is really obvious (another strand of ageing barstardness is that my eyesight is no longer good enough to see the hairs in normal light levels) and also when I go into a nursing home they will come in and de fuzz chin and upper lip once a week!
