Having it done this Saturday. I booked it about 10 weeks ago, after dithering for a year or two. I'm almost 54 years old. Eek!

That’s amazing. How long was the operation?

Mirabai · 23/10/2023 11:35

Did you really only have a local?

SiblingFights · 23/10/2023 11:36

Wow that looks incredible, well done, hope your recovery continues.

Pigeonqueen · 23/10/2023 11:37

Wow 😳😳😳 your neck looks amazing! I am jealous!

CollagenQueen · 23/10/2023 11:39

Yes I only had a local. Knowing now what I do, I would not recommend it whatsoever, it was terrifying. Upper and lower bleph, facelift and neck lift. I honestly don’t think it should be done with a local just because it’s so traumatic. But maybe that’s just me. It was a 4 hour operation.

I should say that the clinic I went to do all their facelifts etc under local. So plenty of people do it. Maybe I’m a wimp 😂

Glad you're no longer in pain! Great results with the neck, you must be pleased.

Finestreason · 23/10/2023 12:19

The results look great so far. Glad you are doing well. Looks like you are healing up nicely.

You are not a wimp, that is a huge amount of physical trauma and stress on the body to undertake using just a local. It must have been awful.

I would want GA and a pre-op sedative!!

BonnieBe · 23/10/2023 12:22

Oh wow the result is amasing. I would be faaaaar too scared to do this though.

Catherinescat · 23/10/2023 12:46

That's a fabulous result @CollagenQueen ! You must be delighted so far, it's so good to hear that you are feeling a bit better.Take care x

Mumsanetta · 23/10/2023 12:49

Excellent result - you look like you’ve lost the equivalent of 3 stone!

BringMeTea · 23/10/2023 12:57

Looking great. You are very brave. Hope you feel much better soon.

MinnieL · 23/10/2023 14:14

Amazing results!! You’re crazy to have this procedure done under LA though!🫣

loseweightpleasegod · 23/10/2023 14:17

Really good results you are over the worst.

CollagenQueen · 23/10/2023 14:33

Thanks so much everyone ❤️

Wow, that was a lot of procedures to have under local. That’s pretty hardcore. I don’t think you’re a wimp, I think it’s a LOT. Props to you for getting through it.

coxesorangepippin · 23/10/2023 16:12

So you were awake the entire time?? Must have been a long four hours!

Glad you're feeling better op, looking good!

usernother · 23/10/2023 16:30

That looks great. Glad you're feeling a bit better. No way would I get that done with a LA. That must have been really uncomfortable. Keep posting the pics.

Ohnanawhatsyourname · 23/10/2023 16:45

Whoah OP you’re mega brave! And in the first place anyway for taking steps to make yourself happier 💖 Other than the LA (!!) it’s making me take this more seriously as an option for me. Really glad you’re relaxing a bit now and hope recovery goes perfectly. Am watching this thread with great interest!!!

1AnotherOne · 23/10/2023 18:48

Glad you’re feeling better but I’m still concerned that you didn’t meet your surgeon until day of surgery.

You mention you spoke with him 4 days before the surgery date. Where’s the two week cooling off period?

As someone who works in the industry this is worrying. You CAN have this under local of course but most places suggest GA or alongside sedation. Saves on anaesthetic costs I guess. Agree with others about Dominic Bray - fantastic results, fantastic surgeon. Price is steep but includes lots of great aftercare and ‘tweakments’. His are done under LA with sedation.

CollagenQueen · 23/10/2023 19:11

Just to clarify, I booked this ten weeks beforehand. I did have a consultation but it was with a different doctor via FaceTime. I agree though, I think my surgeon should have seen me before the day!!

madeinmanc · 23/10/2023 19:28

At least you've spared yourself any long-term effects of general anaesthesia.

1AnotherOne · 23/10/2023 20:26

Your procedure changed from a ‘neck lift’ to a full face lift very soon before surgery, you should’ve had a cooling off period for that.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 23/10/2023 22:59

I can’t see that a surgeon would have any interest is saving anaesthetic costs as it’s the patient that bears the full cost of the anaesthetist. When I had my lower face lift and blepharoplasty I paid the anaesthetist direct and completely separately. I’m not surprised that OP felt traumatised after having that lot under LA!

FlorenceBoot · 22/10/2023 09:08

I work in the Industry and we would never recommend all those procedures under a local .. but didn't want to scare you so kept quiet

She probably wouldn't have taken any notice as she'd put her faith in her surgeon.

I think it's worrying that Queen didn't meant with her surgeon until the morning of the surgery.

Best of luck, OP.

I know it's different as it's facial but I had a neurosurgeon for spinal surgery and didn't meet him until I was actually on the operating table! TBH at that point it was an emergency so I was taking anyone who could stop me being paralysed
