which your parent's were not keen on?

I went through a phase of dressing all in black, but was not a goth. Mum thought all black was OTT.

The only thing my parents ever frowned upon was me ironing my hair straight. And looking back, I wish I hadn't - my hair was was so much healthier and tumbled down my back like a pre raphaelite. But I was so keen to look like a 60's chick (pam morrison, joni mitchell) that I frazzled it to death Grin

Oh, heaps of things, in more or less chronological order:

Jeans with a fly at the front (weird religious thing about “men's” clothing)
Heels
Mini skirts
No girdle
Tampons
Make up
Biker's leather jacket
Biker's denim jacket with paint and chains (had to smuggle that one out of the house)
Afghan coat
Patchouli oil
Henna or dye on hair
face and body paint
fake tattoos
No bra
Ancient fur coats from jumble sales
Thin cotton and muslin vintage bodices and petticoats as outerwear
Long drapey sleeves

Hmm, quite cathartic…
