Mine. A black real leather dress.

Unworn? goodness. Probably a pair of shoes.

I have a somewhat challenging foot shape. And shoes often don´t reveal the fact that they simply will not work until I have worn them (and walked in them) for 20-40 minutes.

I usually give them away or put them in the charity shop bin. But there are 1-2 pairs I have not managed to part with (yet...)

Itsjustmeee · 15/10/2023 13:18

Mulberry Bayswater in Oak 1200 quid and I’ve only use it for funerals

Louboutins 800 quid and worn once last summer to a wedding
They look nice though 😂

sawnotseen · 15/10/2023 14:08

Not unworn but both worn once.
Pair of limited edition cowboy boots by Julie Rothschild for RSoles, for which I paid over £200 in 1990. Currently on eBay and Vinted as finally decided that I need to part from them.
Leather hot pants that I had made bespoke by a store in Covent Garden for my 21st party, 31yrs ago. I was tiny so couldn't buy any off the peg.
Boots bloody hurt. Don't know why I never wore the hot pants again. They're in the loft. I don't know anyone (my daughter, neice, friends' daughters) small enough to fit in them.

KirstinBlest · 15/10/2023 14:59

Why not take your coat to a tailor / alterations place and have it altered to fit?
The tailor would need to take the coat apart and re-do it almost from scratch.

FastFood · 15/10/2023 17:34

A pair of Chloé shoes. I have them for 15 years. Used to wear them often but have worn them just once in 10 years.

Also, a Sandro dress. Beautiful beautiful dress but I don't have any occasion to wear it.
Ironically, it would be perfect with the Chloé shoes.

RampantIvy · 15/10/2023 17:42

I don't understand why people buy clothes and footwear then just never wear them. I never buy footwear online because I have "challenging" feet, and I very rarely buy clothes online because I want to see and feel the material and make sure they fit before I part with my money.

So all the shoes and clothes I have fit and suit me so I wear them all, some more often than others, weather and occsion depending. This summer I was in danger of not ever wearing something I had bought, then we had a lovely hot week in September so I eventually managed to wear my new summer top.

Pallisers · 15/10/2023 17:44

A Jason Wu black lacy top. Just never found the occasion.

StoatofDisarray · 15/10/2023 17:47

A navy blue LK Bennet suit probably. Jacket, skirt and trousers.

KirstinBlest · 15/10/2023 17:52

@RampantIvy , mine are charity shop bargains I forgot I bought. In the past I would buy something in the sales intending to get it hemmed or something and never get round to it, or buy something in an outlet shopping centre and find it wasn't quite right.
I don't think I've actually worn anything I have bought from Toast apart from 1 pair of pyjamas. Fortunately they sell for a decent price on online auction sites.

HiGunny · 15/10/2023 18:03

A black silk YSL tuxedo blazer that I bought on Vestiaire. It's lovely but quite fitted compared to the current oversized look in blazers so I haven't had the outfit or occasion to wear it. Keeping it until fashion changes again 😁

I also have a few pairs of heels that I bought during Covid not realising that heels would die a death post pandemic!

Catopia · 15/10/2023 18:12

I have a number of ball gowns I've only worn once, mainly from university balls etc. I love them but funnily enough don't get much chance to wear them.... I cannot be the only person in this boat?

I've got an absolutely beautiful, but useless real fur coat, given to me by DM, and given to her by a billionaire, in the 70s.

It's so heavy, and hot, and people will just chuck paint at you, so completely unwearable. I darent sell it anywhere like eBay because a paint thrower type will buy it just to cut a hole in it and return it "damaged."

I just don't know what to do with it. Personal feelings on fur aside, it's from an era when fur was fine, and it's about as high quality you can get. Ideas would be gratefully received on the best way to sell?

I have the same situation. When I was a student in the early 1980s I mentioned to my grandmother that I was cold waiting for the bus. A couple of days later a parcel arrived. She has sent me a beautiful 1940s mink coat.
I wore it once but felt so self conscious I've not worn it since.
My sister lived in Berlin for a few years and loads of people wore real fur there.
Anyway, I am at a loss as to what to do with it. It's been in the loft for years.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 15/10/2023 18:19

A Seasalt coat I've worn only twice because I feel fat in it. Paid a hundred and something quid. Lovely kingfisher blue colour, it's a shame...

HeatWaveOff · 15/10/2023 18:36

@EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon

I have a regular search on seasalt coats on ebay (I want a grey plant hunter) and they sell like hot cakes -loads of bids, watchers etc.

and not for peanuts, you'll make ok money back if you list.

BalloonSalesperson · 15/10/2023 18:40

If I lose 15 lbs and breathe in I’ll get back into it. Interestingly it is a size 14, but I think in current day sizing it would be more like a 10

I can vouch for that. I'm 7lbs heavier than I was in the 80s, but two dress sizes smaller. Weird that.

LimeCheesecake · 15/10/2023 19:09

I too have a lockdown unworn item. A dress I bought to wear for an event that then didn’t happen. However, I’ve just bought a cardie that matches a stripe in it and when worn with said cardie is toned down enough for work (makes it less “going for dinner”) and will be wearing this winter to work.

I also have a pair of snow boots I bought this summer for this winter, but will wear when weather turns. I bought 2 cashmere jumpers in the summer as well, it’s not been cold enough for them yet, might wear one tomorrow.

im in the “wear the posh thing” camp.

FrillyGoatFluff · 15/10/2023 20:08

Louboutins I bought on honeymoon in Paris.

They're beautiful, but I'm now fat and they cripple me.

I'm hoping my daughter ends up with the same size feet as me and I can pass them down (she's only 18 months, we've got a while to wait yet!)

JaceLancs · 15/10/2023 21:38

A pair of Carolina Herrera flats in dark purple which pinched and left me with blisters tge only time I wore them

I’m just replacing my plant hunter coat after 6 years, it’s not the most fashionable of things but so so warm and comfortable, properly waterproof too. Definitely get one if you can!

EconomyClassRockstar · 15/10/2023 23:59

The smaller size of my Mother of the Groom dress but the dress was a really weird sizing so it didn't matter how much weight I lost, I wasn't going to lose a couple of ribs. I had the bigger sized one tailored and looked fabulous.

EconomyClassRockstar · 16/10/2023 00:00

And the other one is on Vinted if anyone wants it 😁

KirstinBlest · 16/10/2023 11:08

@FrillyGoatFluff , feet can change size and you might find that they fit you sometime.

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 16/10/2023 14:36

2 pairs of Jimmy Choo couture sandals! They may have been made to measure however, not for my feet. They were a regift from the original owner but bloody hell, they were incredibly uncomfortable. I'm not sure if I would blame the made to measure 'Cinderella' aspect; more to do with 2mm soles! They were again regifted to a charity shop along with the original shoe bags for provenance so hopefully, made a small footed lady happy - until she tried to walk, stand etc. despite being vertiginous, they were hardly of bedroom variety either!

AdoraBell · 26/10/2023 23:49

Ralph Lauren dress that I bought in the sale. I’ll use it next summer.
