Sweaty Betty high waisted “upgrade” to Ultrasculpt. They’ve ruined my favourite leggings!

Sweaty Betty have broken my heart.

The high waisted power leggings are hands down the best and most comfortable leggings I’ve ever owned. I’ve got a few pairs but they’ve been worn and washed so much they need replaced.

Sweaty Betty have “improved” the design and renamed them Ultrasculpt. I tried them on yesterday and they were awful. There are quite a few negative reviews because they are hard to get on, but I’m okay with that. My issue is that they cut isn’t as nice, they don’t feel good on, and the material was not only not squat-proof, it wasn’t even standing-still proof.

Has anyone got any recommendations for another brand that are similar (🤞identical 🤞) to the original High Waisted Power leggings?

Horrors! I'm grief-stricken by your report on the "upgrade". I need some new leggings too and was assuming I'd just buy another pair.

I’ve been less impressed by Sweaty Betty leggings recently too. The Lululemon leggings I have are amazing, better than Sweaty Betty but they are really expensive, I managed to get a pair cheaper in the sale but it was luck as often none of my size left in the sample! I’ve tried M and S Goodmove leggings recently and they are surprisingly good and much better priced.

This is really disappointing as I basically live in them for the school run and errands 😭 they ruined the tops a while ago which were just the nicest cut and so flattering. I'm still clinging on to the few original old ones I have but they're getting a bit past it. Noticed the poor reviews for the new "improved" ones too.

Why do they do this?!

OopsItsAPony · 16/10/2023 19:46

I’ve emailed them asking if they have any secret stock of the old ones anywhere.

I might try Lulu instead.

I’ve been a SB customer for about 20 years and they do this every now and again. I’ve found it really annoying but then eventually I have found they bring out a “new” alternative that I do like. Currently I can’t get my hands on any of the longer length sleeveless yoga tops that used to stay down - I went in today and they recommended the athlete vest but I find these ride up. Not tried lulu lemon but you could also try Varley? Good luck!!

OP, you have spoiled my day with this news, and it’s only 6:15! I am very much a “dress girl” but my SB Power leggings are one of the few pairs of trousers l wear.

l’m on a hunt!

I live near a shop that sells SB "end of line" stuff. I was in there last weekend and they had loads of the Power leggings which I thought was odd, but this explains it if they're phasing them out.

I bought two pairs for £7 each, maybe I should go back and get some more!

I wondered why my jazzy new Powers felt different; strangely rougher and less stretchy fabric.
Lulu Align with pockets are a good if pricy alternative

@OopsItsAPony So gutting when brands do this. I don’t have any suggestions for alternatives but wanted to suggest you try Vinted or eBay for ‘new with tags’ SB Power leggings.

A brand I like for the very soft SB-like material and good quality is Adanola - I have their crop tops but not leggings, but maybe worth a look?
