Seat-belting anyone?

I've started seeing lots of people doing this only this week (London) and a lot of them being mature / middle aged women. I have only just started throwing a sweater over my shoulders and felt that was a brave new thing for me! Now this! Not a slave to fashion but I do kind of quite like it... I think.

What do others think? (Pic attached)

Seat-belting anyone?

But you'll end up with one sleeve all covered in sweat or deodorant?

Why?😬

Don’t do it with a good jumper, you’ll end up stretching the sleeves, because you’d have to pull it quite tight to keep in place, or you’ll have to hold it as well, ruining the “look”.

That wouldn't be a problem for me as I have long arms and often the sleeves shrink after a couple of (low temperature) washes.

It is currently 8 degrees. I will be wearing my jumper rather than slinging it around me.

I don't see the point, it looks stupid ruined the jumper and doesn't keep you warm. I see zero point

The point for me is that it gives me somewhere to put my jumper if I'm too hot to wear it. It's just an alternative to around my waist and I've always preferred this to over both shoulders

Mercurial123 · 14/10/2023 19:23

It's not a good look.

MerelyPlaying · 14/10/2023 19:26

Not with my tits. That would definitely stretch the sleeves.

meatbaseddessert · 14/10/2023 19:47

That's going to slide off in about 3 steps.

It looks like she's suddenly feeling a bit nipular and wants to hide it.

anunlikelyseahorse · 14/10/2023 20:07

Oh wow I'm suddenly in trend for the first time ever!! I've always worn jumpers like this when I get hot, if I tie at the waste they always fall down, if I tie at the neck, they seem to slip down and I hate anything round my neck, so I've always gone 'seatbelt' style....but had no idea that was it's name!

Good lord! It's like the 1980's Benetton look never went away.

Er... yeah. That's how trends work

RampantIvy · 14/10/2023 20:18

Why do they fall down@anunlikelyseahorse? Mine never do?

Maybe small hips, wide waist, no butt? I have big glutes and a smaller waist so they don't fall but I dint always want my spare jumper tied around my waist. It looks very casual tied around the waist. Over shoulders or seat belt style is a tad less casyal
