Second day curls

How do I get my waves / curls to stay like this on day 2? Attached pic is air dried from a shower this morning, no scrunching or product used (except a bit of argon oil post shower). By tomorrow the waves / curls will be a scraggy mess and we know I can't brush them! How do I keep them reasonable on day 2 so I don't have to wash hair every day?

Silk bonnet to sleep in, or at least a silk pillowcase.

A little bit of some kind of product for hold on Day 1 will help – a light gel that you can scrunch the cast out of once dry.

Then on Day 2 (for my curl pattern - a bit tighter than yours) I shake out my hair from the bonnet, and go through curl by curl with a very light layer of gel on my hands and tidy up any that have gone frizzy. No water!

Honestly, the bonnet made the biggest difference for me – that and getting some specific curl coaching from a specialist for my curl pattern.

I comb mine with a wide tooth comb then damp them again.

I find the Cantu come back curl revitaliser works for rejuvenating my curls on the second day after easting my hair.

I spray it over my hair, scrunch my hair and then dry it again with a diffuser.

I spray my hair with water and then scrunch in whatever curl enhancer cream I have at the time. Works really well for me.

Pineappling helps (at night,).

On top of your head in a loose scrunchie for sleeping.

Next morning if they need some help, a bit of water and curl gel, scrunch. Scrunch again when dry.

Also - you have beautiful hair!

FastFood · 13/10/2023 13:59

you've got great hair, give them a Silke night bonnet! It's expensive but it's a game changer!

Thanks for the hair compliments :) Some great tips here - does the silk bonnet have to be real silk?

I've actually never looked into that! If you search 'silk bonnets for curls' you'll find lots of options. It's mostly just that it's super-smooth on the inside so it stops your curls from separating / frizzing up.

Also it makes you feel like a fancy 1950s starlet...

Same. I have to wet my hair everyday if I wear it down.

KaarijasBowlCut · 13/10/2023 17:51

It doesn't have to be a silk bonnet - I use a buff like this and it protects my curls really well overnight - amzn.eu/d/4HrA5ll

Not attractive 🙈 but very effective!

Product! A lot of conditioner + gel on day 1 will prob see you through to day 2.

Day 2 wet your hands and scrunch through hair.
