Le Pliage or Brics tote

I'm in the market for a lightweight tote. I've seen lots of recommendations for le pliage and while I think they look lovely they really don't seem to wear very well. Appreciate this could be a recent thing as it looks like production has shifted to China. I've also come across Brics https://www.wardow.com/uk/brics-x-collection-tote-bag-bxg45071-078-uk.html I think the bags have a similar look and weight but the Brics is made in Italy. Does anyone have a Brics and could advise on wear or are there other lightweight brands I should look for?

I love my Le Pliage and find they wear fine. At least a few years with regular use. I think all others pale into comparison to be honest

SpottyBrolly · 11/10/2023 23:13

That's good to know

I have a Brics packaway bag for travel, essentially the Le Pliage shape but larger but in the traditional Brics fabric, not like the one linked. It holds up really well, must be twenty years old by now but obviously isn't used daily but it seems to survive the brutal abuse of airports better than my suitcases that promise to be indestructible.

SpottyBrolly · 12/10/2023 20:48

I've seen some Brics on vinted so think I'm going to get one there if I can, and keep an eye out on Brandally for Le Pliage, that way no need to choose between them.

Oh thos Brics are lovely. Haven't seen them before. Le Pliage is everywhere.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/10/2023 00:54

Brics definitely, LP are like Roy Cropper's shopping bag!

Cormoran · 13/10/2023 01:11

Have you considered https://www.hervechapelier.com/default/fonction/shopping-bags.html these were used as school bags back in the 80s by every girl in France and I have passed mine down to DD . She loves it because it makes her unique since many amongst her friends have Longchamp but nobody has Chapelier.

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/10/2023 06:14

I love my Le Pliage. Everyone has one but I wouldn’t be without mine.

SpottyBrolly · 13/10/2023 08:16

@Cormoran I hadn't, but love the variety of patterns. @falalalalal the Brics area lovely aren't they. I like the fact there is a pocket as well.

Wardow seems like a scammy site to me. Anyone used

le pliage is fine for an over flow bag but shite as a main one as no zips or decent compartments imho. brics luggage is fantastic so I’m sure the bag is great too

botemp · 13/10/2023 08:43

Wardow is a huge German company that's been around for at least ten years, not scammy at all.

Alicay · 13/10/2023 08:50

Cormoran, I can't see a zip on those bags. Is that right?

Cormoran · 13/10/2023 08:56

They have a zip

Lovethatforyouhun · 13/10/2023 09:10

Sorry i mean zipped compartments inside. I have several bags and i love them, just would love them more with a decent sized zipped compartments and a phone holder etc for travelling.

thanks @botemp they stock a huge range of Campomagi (sp) bags that I can’t find elsewhere so that is great to know!

Edited

Yes, the inside pocket is zipped and bigger than Longchamp .

Tammy62 · 01/12/2023 09:57

I own several Brics bags for years now and I couldn’t be happier with them! Compared to Longchamp I find them more practical and better organized! Quality wise , they are very similar but both beautiful and sustainable! Pricewise they are close! The Brics color range is amazing and the handles can be worn in 3 ways!

EtiennePalmiere · 01/12/2023 10:05

I have both and I love my Brics, feels sturdier and the handles and pocket are more practical, plus it's a little more under the radar than le pliage.

bigdecisionstomake · 01/12/2023 10:22

I've got a LP tote and love it. I do have a small collection of zipped make up sized bags inside to give it some order though. One for make up bits, one for medications/plasters/tissues, one for headphones/chargers etc... so I can find what I want without having to rummage around too much.
