Vitamin C...

Can anyone recommend a vitamin C cream or serum? Preferably one that is not fragranced. There are so many out there that I'm finding it hard to choose! Never used one before now but would like to incorporate it into my skincare routine.

I've tried lots and am really liking the Sali Hughes at the moment. It's not as harsh as some others I've tried.
Geek and Gorgeous is supposed to be one of the best (a supposed dupe for the ££££££ Skinceuticals one)
They're all a bit whiffy tbh. It's the nature of the stuff. Not too overpowering though, if they smell nice and citrussy I imagine it's because they've had fragrance added.

Do you want it to brighten your skin?

Lumene's Nordic C range is lovely, I bought their trial/travel set initially and was surprised and impressed with how much better my skin looks, and it was pretty good to begin with. The travel set is currently £28.50 on their website (also stocked by John Lewis but frequently goes out of stock it's so popular!). 99% of ingredients are natural, 100% vegan and they are big on sustainability.

I've got the Nordic C night cream. That does smell lovely (very orangey)
I don't know what % the actual vitamin C is though. (As it's in a night cream I imagine very little as vitamin C is recommended for mornings as it's an anti-oxident that helps your SPF do its job)

It's a lovely range though. I like Lumene a lot.

SoIinvictus · 11/10/2023 07:16

The Nordic serum seems to have a good % and it's an easily tolerated form of vitamin C (some can be quite harsh)

sleepD3pr1ived · 11/10/2023 07:39

There are some great vit C serums and creams and I love lumene Nordic C serum but I've found azelaic acid works better - I use The Ordinary one and it's fantastic. Reasonably priced too.

Wow I've never heard of this! Good to know

Azelaic and Vitamin C are complimentary to each other, you can use both.
Acids in the evening, vit C in the morning.

Theoldwoman · 11/10/2023 14:53

I use the one from CeraVe. Quite like it.

QueefofSheena · 11/10/2023 15:06

I'm using a Beauty Pie one but it's the first Vit C I've tried so I'm not sure how it performs against others. It does work nicely with their SPF, no pilling. I really like the Lumene pressed serum so I may try their Vit C next.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/10/2023 15:26

I've been using "Super Facialist Vitamin C Glow Boost Skin Serum" and have definitely noticed a difference in my skin lately. It's strong, so only use a very small amount otherwise I do feel it sting a bit. And there is a scent, but I have never come across a completely unscented VitC cream/serum.

user27092023 · 11/10/2023 15:47

Loreal Paris do a good Vitamin C serum for a more affordable price. It's 12% Vitamin C, which is a pretty good dose.

With any Vitamin C though, make sure you screw the cap on tightly after use, otherwise it will start oxidising and become less effective.

Deathraystare · 11/10/2023 16:15

I had bought a number of different ones - serums and creams. They dried my skin up and felt rough on my skin. Nearly gave up but came across Simple's serum. It is very light but quite creamy and contains Vits C, E and F. Really enjoying wearing it. I wanted something fluid and gentle under my face cream. It might have a smell of sorts but is not overpowering.

Jarstastic · 13/10/2023 22:35

I’m used a few including some named on here for 15+ years.
the best that I’ve used that doesn’t cost a fortune is from pure skin formulations or PSF. You can buy it direct from them (US site) though I’ve bought from the Canadian Essential day spa website. I keep going back to it.

PlantBasedMuffin · 13/10/2023 23:15

Sugar House Organics C's The Day is organic and not fragranced.

Welshgal85 · 13/10/2023 23:16

The Oskia one is fab!
