Hello again to everyone from the last thread and welcome to anyone who enjoys talking about this aesthetic .. and if you have photos to share even better!

We've been discussing woollen jumpers, tweed skirts and jackets (with and without elbow patches), flannel trousers, fair isle tank tops, leather boots, culottes, berets and many other appealing garments, and more recently novels, poetry, libraries in general and even home decor with a DA vibe. Plus tortoiseshell spectacles and lorgnettes. I don't think we've touched on DA hairstyles yet although I've been giving that some thought ..

A DA quote I came across the other day: "I declare after all, there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library." (P&P of course)

If curling up in a wing-backed armchair in front of a log fire, with candles flickering, sipping tea from a china mug while reading your Jane Austen or Bronte novel sounds appealing, this thread might be for you. Or if you just like the clothes - that works too.

Our first thread below:

And where to find it? This is how I want to dress this winter. More skirts and dresses rather than trousers as my waist is not the best and the trous...

On the topic of Docs...I rather like the buckle mary janes and am tempted. I sort of think I can pull them off but worried about feeling like I'm wearing children's shoes. I've liked these for ages but will I get funny looks?
Still been looking for perfect loafers and not found them yet. The Lanx are great but v expensive and I think I want a smoother rounder toe, not moccasin style sewn.

Another one here from the woman on a train thread. Am devouring this content.

@highlandcoo , this thread is nearly full too! Are you going to start another one? I think it would be good, as autumn is definitely peak DA time - I got out some warmer clothes yesterday and it was so nice to see all the dark red and dark green and purply brown colours again!

Today has been the first day I'm not dressed like someone about to go clean out the sewage system - so much flooding in the streets around us, tall wellies and waterproofs it was 😐 I have been quite frustrated. It's hard to feel suitably romantic out on a walk when you're squeaking and squelching with each footstep.

@SerafinasGoose What a haul of gorgeous clothing you've found! Just reading the list put me in a lovely mood....

In Edinburgh definitely Greyfriars churchyard with the statue of Greyfriars Bobby, the Skye Terrier who slept on his owner’s grave for fourteen years & is buried near the gates . I show & breed Skye Terriers, have done for years, & can vouch for their “one man dog” reputation. They’ve been at the very top of the At Risk British Native Breeds list at the Kennel Club for years

@SqueakyDinosaur yes it's that time of year so I think a third thread would be in order Smile

Once I dry out from a damp walk this afternoon I'll get onto it.
