Cheap SPF 50 that can be worn underneath makeup?

I got quite the shock yesterday that my normal Garnier SPF 50 was £12.99 in Boots. Does anyone know of a good and cheaper alternative?

I used to use kiehls which is brilliant but pricy so switched to bondi which I think is about 6 or 7 pounds. It’s a bit thick but absorbs well, I use it under makeup and you only need a tiny amount. I used it all over summer and it was good so bought another bottle over winter which I think will last 3 months. I also think cos it’s slightly thick it will actually be better for winter her as my skin can get more dry.

Altruist spf50 is cheap

I use this:

Mind you, I've no particular skin problems (other than wrinkles); don't know if it would suit sensitive skins.
Seems to do the job for me.

The only one I find none greasy and copes under makeup is Avenè. But I'm in the Middle East so have to wear all the time. Stays put and does not sweat off. Cheaper tends to be greasier or my skin reacts.

I used the SKIN1004 Centella water for sunscreen yesterday, literally plastered it on around 30 minutes before going out in the weak October UK sun and my face is red and sore today. I’m not convinced it’s the same SPF it’s advertised as. Following this as I just want something that works!

I use a boots Soltan (the face one) and it's good for the price

I use the Cerave moisturiser that has factor 50 in it -so just apply as moisturiser - find it absorbs quite well and make up goes on as well over that as any other moisturiser. Although it is about £13 it works out cheaply as you don't need a separate moisturiser. https://www.cerave.co.uk/skincare/moisturisers/am-facial-moisturising-lotion-spf50

Get the 100 ml 50 stuff for kids in Lidl :)

Although to be honest, I'm a guy and have no idea whether it can be worn under makeup! I think it was about a fiver.

That's what I use! Or similar. It's fine, does the job

fishfingersandtoes · 16/10/2023 19:43

There's a Nivea one which is not expensive. It's fine on my fairly normal 45 year old skin.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 16/10/2023 19:43

Was it not on the exact same shelf as the Boots Soltan face sunscreen?! I think you can click and collect if it's not in stock (but you'll need to make up the rest of an order). It's about £3.50.

Biovene anti-aging sun serum SPF 50 from Home Bargains - best purchase I made before I went on holiday and great underneath make up

Woo! Endorsement :)

I'm heading in tomorrow so I can check price, but I know it's 100 ml as I just came back from holiday using it, and it worked great!- I'm still ghostly transparent.
