Stopping mascara slide?!

PeachP · 06/10/2023 22:46

Any tips for best mascaras that don't slide down your face during the day / how to minimise it?

I am very low maintenance and find make-up a bit intimidating...

Day to day I just wear mascara and Becca under eye brightener (for dark under eye circles) and would want to keep things low maintenance. I've got fairly long eyelashes to start with so quite like the day 2 night mascara on day setting (as I don't like clumpy) but find it sliiiiiiddeeeess down my face all day

Ta!

Tubing mascaras. I haven’t had a smudge since I started using them - I like Clinique Lash Power for not being too clumpy.

Tubing mascara

Cinnamonandcoal · 06/10/2023 23:06

The hourglass tubing mascara is amazing.

tubing mascara! Changed my life!
They are nothing like waterproof. They come off when you want them too

IDriveMySupernova · 07/10/2023 00:36

It might be the eye brightener that’s making it slide. Mine slides if I don’t set my concealer with powder.

I personally can’t bear tubing mascara. The process of removing it feels horrible to me and I ended up binning it after getting a ‘tube’ in my eye one too many times.

I use No7 volume waterproof https://www.boots.com/no7-intense-volume-waterproof-mascara-10143391 I like it because it doesn’t clump or flake, and looks natural.

The problem is the mascara.
I used YSL faux cils for years and never had a problem. Tried Nars Climax for a change- and by the end of the day I have black smudges under my eyes.
Never a problem with Kevin Aucoin’s tubing mascara: but that doesn’t give the volume of YSL.

Kdubs1981 · 07/10/2023 08:26

I used to have this problem constantly. I find now a good quality waterproof mascara help. I used Clinique high impact waterproof

listlovers · 07/10/2023 08:34

Tubing mascara.

TheDogsMother · 07/10/2023 08:36

I think it might be the under eye brightener/concealer. I found this caused any mascara to drift, waterproof or not. I still use concealer but not right up to eyelash line.

Iwishmynamewassheilah · 07/10/2023 08:44

Lancôme Hypnose. Never flakes or slides.

BigBundleOfFluff · 07/10/2023 09:26

I'm a greasy girl. Tubing mascara is game changing for me - but you don't get the same impact as non tubing ones.

Whataretheodds · 07/10/2023 09:28

Setting spray?

SeasonalWitch · 07/10/2023 09:36

I turned to Clinique Lash Power tubing years ago to stop this, and it had been great. But I found that it smudged like crazy in just the muggy UK heat this summer.

I’d look in the mirror and have to wipe both under my eye and on the lid, which has never happened before. I’m really disappointed.

I’ve been using a 3-pack I got from duty free at Easter time. I presumed it was genuine products but I have my doubts now.

Lovethatforyouhun · 07/10/2023 09:59

Tubing mascara- the Boots one in the beige and white tube is my fave.
Becca!!!! Make it last its been discontinued.

Saverage · 07/10/2023 16:33

Another vote for tubing. Not a hint of smudging. I've got the No7 one, which is good for daytime but I haven't looked for a more volumising one yet for evening.

theduchessofspork · 07/10/2023 19:03

Tubing mascara is what you need.

Clinique do some but lots of people do

Comes off with warm water

LaundryWoes · 07/10/2023 19:07

If you fancy trying a tubing mascara a bit cheaper, I’ve been using maybelline snapscara, it was about £5 on amazon. I like the ‘black cherry’ colour, and I’ve also tried the waterproof black one but find that one is a bit clumpy.

Datafan55 · 07/10/2023 19:09

Putting on clear mascara over coloured (pricinng or cheap etc) has always worked for me.

(Although now looking up tubing mascara in case it's easier to get off!)

WhereAreWeNow · 08/10/2023 07:19

Another vote for Maybelline Snapscara as a good, cheap tubing mascara to try.

PeachP · 08/10/2023 20:11

Thanks everyone!! Will give some of those a try

This! Best mascara I've ever used and it's cheap too!

I only wear mascara on my upper lashes. Partly as I think it suits me better (I have large round eyes and can look a bit “scary doll” with both sets done) but also means it doesn’t transfer.

superplumb · 08/10/2023 21:17

Same issue. I like eldw mascara. I never seem to get the volume with tubing ones but the eldw in navy tube is brilliant. Big lashes but no smudge

rheasmummy · 08/10/2023 22:12

Same problem for years here too! I agree, tubing mascara is what you need.
Victoria Beckham Vast Lash mascara has made me enjoy using mascara again -no smudges at all!

TimeForBedSaidZebadee · 10/10/2023 16:54

Wow, best thread ever. I'm older and have really been struggling with mascara smudging. Even the expensive ones.
So, on the back of this thread I ordered a very cheap tubing mascara from Amazon (£4.49) what a game changer. Not a single smudge, plus my lashes look longer and no clumping.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
