So, I'm now up on these 'secret' codes TK Maxx use on labels to distinguish whether a deal is legit.
The way I understand it:
1 = products created specifically for TK Maxx by either bands they own themselves or by buying licences to stick 'designer' labels on cheaper versions.
2 = Original, genuine items TK Maxx bought from end of season or excess stock of known brands i.e. the brand actually sold these in their own stores.
7 = Items packed away from previous years. The example I keep finding for this is christmas crackers bought in January and strored away for the year until Christmas.
So, here's my confusion. I bought a jacket from a known brand with a 7 code on it. The problem is that 1 & 2 tell me about the origin of the product but 7 is quite ambiguous. So it was bought and packed away but where did it come from? Does anyone have any insider knowledge?
I know their cheaper, licensed 'knockoffs' aren't necessarily duds and that even branded doesn't mean quality these days. I'm just curious.
