I'm wearing the frock in pic. Bottle green. Pretty flattering. Won't win any style prizes I'm sure but it's all I've got as I've been head in the sand about a family meal where it'll be twin set and pearls or long floral dress and gold m and a shoes for the elders and other than my kids I'll be youngest there so don't much care. I'd wear blouse, jeans and sleeveless tank top jumper and leather jacket for my friends but still. Here we are. Which shoes and tights please in an ideal world ?! Colour handy too !! I've got loads of shoes sadly and no clothes as I keep planning to lose weight. 🤣. Go go go!

It's kind of knee length by the way

With that sort of dress any footwear goes really

Can you not just come as yourself and just wear what you like?

I think black tights and ballet flats it courts (for example) would look a bit dowdy

I'd wear a dress like that with light coloured fishnet tights (or no tights) and lace up boots

Just to balance it a bit.

But I mainly think you should just do you.

Wear the jeans and blouse!

But if you want to wear the dress, I’d go for tan/brown boots and neutral tights.

I've no idea what you have in mind there. Without seeing the whole dress it's difficult to suggest shoes. Although I'm a bit bemused that you can't find a pair of shoes for a day dress, particularly as you say you have loads of shoes. Is there really nothing in your wardrobe that you can look at and think "yeah that's fine" ballet flats, courts, boots?

As you've only shown half the dress I can't tell if boots would go. From the little I can see I might wear knee boots, possibly brown or black seude and flat but probably not ankle boots, either heeled or flat. Although that might change if I saw the whole dress.

I disagree about black opaques and black ballet flats being "dowdy" . I don't like bare legs except in summer but I think fish net tights will look odd with a heavily patterned dress, so either leg coloured sheer or black or green opaques

I like the pattern and colour. That's a very pretty green.

I was thinking knee high boots or ankle boots and dark tights.

But just try various things on?

I went with Oxblood Chelsea type boots in the end. I was just very meh about it all and really should have just put my jeans on! Nobody wild have cared ! Thank you as ever though and I'll be bringing back out my semi vintage knee boots soon

Also in OPo meant gold m and a shoes for the oldies.
There was a ladies in 60s there who was so stylish and had lovely boots. Deadly type dress with a beautiful mustard wooo coat. Lush
