Advice needed for DP

So my MiL sadly died recently and DP has a suit that she loved for the funeral but we are not sure what colour shirt and tie to go for, possibly navy for the shirt, but any advice welcome please

It's more purple than maroon in real life.

We have a white shirt, just weren't sure if the contrast was too much? He says thank you for the condolences.

Sorry for your loss.

I think white or cream would be fine, but if they were so inclined and wanted to wear black with it then a black shirt and tie would also look completely fine and complement black shoes quite well (something most people have at home).
