I always thought I had wavy hair. I just diffused it for the first time and got … this! I feel it has potential but needs work as now I’m channeling bad perm from the 80s. What should I do?

Mousse?

You need to 'plop' your hair with a microfibre towel or a t-shirt. YouTube it for technique!

Thanks. Do I then diffuse it after the plop?
Any particular mousse?

After a lifetime of stick straight hair I'm now about 20% grey and a little wavy. Mine looks the same when I diffuse it.

Have you tried the curly girl method? Wash with conditioner only, squish in the shower, add gel or mousse, plop in a t-shirt.

Is your hair quite fine? CG is such a mixed bag depending on the texture of your hair, products used, water hardness etc etc. but I think you can only know by trying. I moved on to Hairstory products which are expensive but last ages and solved most of the problems I couldn't work out with CG alone.

I also sleep with my hair in twists or pincurls, which helps the wave look fatter and less frizzy.

Yes very fine hair. It's normally much flatter - the diffusing made it big. I'll Google the curly girl stuff.
