Upper eyelid surgery (Kent) -£3500??

So I really want to do this, one eyelid is so much worse than the other but I can't wear eye make up it's so bad.

Started looking, and it's so unaffordable , priced at £3500 for upper eyelids. I have to also buy some pre treatment for a medical issue so I'm thinking I may be tied to the local area due to the clinic.

If your drooping eyelids affect your vision you can get this operation done on the NHS (or you used to be able to). Does an optician have to lift them out of the way when you have your eyes tested? All private medicine is expensive if you are paying cash and there will always be extra such as the anaesthetist and medication to take afterwards.

I think it's just the difference from when I last looked and elsewhere - it seems to have massively increased.

One side is so bad; I'm very self conscious about it.

They aren't anywhere near the degree that the nhs would cover yet. £3500 sounds reasonable. It's a private operation performed by a consultant. Of course it will be at a price the average person would find high.

Yes I know it's expensive, it just seems a lot more than when I looked last. I was hoping for a steer maybe on where to look, if anyone had recommendations in the south east in addition.

I paid £2500 for mine last year in Glasgow, its now gone up to £3500 in the same clinic. So I think everywhere has put their prices up!

Tbh, I'd have expected the South East to be more expensive.

I had it done just outside Leeds 2 weeks ago for £1895- under local anaesthetic which reduces the cost significantly. Do you have any family further north you could stay with for a night? Or perhaps a hotel? Because I had local I was up and about almost immediately and if I was accompanied I could have easily made the journey on a train or car if someone else drove.

TwoItalianApples · 29/09/2023 13:17

Oh that's interesting. These prices are under local 😱 but I wonder if I could travel. I would definitely say yes but I'm not sure how the additional pre treatment works and if I need to have it administered within a time frame or if I can take it with me.

I had it with the skin surgery clinic in Yeadon just outside Leeds but the Coppergate clinic in York was also on my shortlist but my dates didn't work with their availability. Contact them both and see if they can help you.

Hi, do you mind if I ask who you went to for your surgery? I'm currently doing research for lowers. Thank you!
