... V neck tops that cover my tummy but not my hips.
What about you? What would your clothes shop stock?

All plain clothing, no patterns. All natural fibres. Longer tops to wear with leggings.

purplecorkheart · 28/09/2023 21:16

Clothes that are finished properly with proper hems and buttons fully stitched on. Boots that suit thick legs. Lots of colour particularly in winter.

Decent lighting instore. Changing rooms with multi (honest) mirror so I can see what I look like from all sides. I do not want these mirrors that make you good in store but when you wear it at home it looks dire.

In formal dresses perhaps labels on them suggesting the best style of bra that would work with it and have them in stock. Where I live you have to order online and returning costs a fortune.

Ladies sock available for over size 7.

I'm stocking one-piece swimsuits that flatter wobbly bits other than your tummy. It's not that my tum is perfect - far from it - but I'm a pear shape so it's proportionately not that big, whereas my arse is enormous. But you can only get tummy control in swimwear. I need bum control 🍑

Cantonet · 28/09/2023 21:52

Pure cotton or linen t shirts with a v or deep scoop neck. Bralettes in cotton or bamboo with a lining & no itchy stitching or metal bits. 100% merino or cashmere knitwear to order in a variety of colours & necklines. Wool/Cashmere mix coats with no polyamide. I seem to attract fluff like a magnet with synthetic fibres.

Tailored shirts that do not have pockets on the breast (s). Normally, I want more pockers in women's clothes but I am an e cup and the last thing I need is more bulk on my boobs!

Seconded. And shirts that fit over the boobage, without being enormous on the shoulders - I'm overnorked, I'm not a shot-putter.

CissOff · 28/09/2023 21:56

Swim suits that suit long bodies. At 5’8 I’m not ridiculously tall but I don’t find costumes that come up high enough to cover my ample boobs.

LTS is great but more variety would be great.

White t shirts that aren’t see through and trousers that don’t have seams around the thighs that rub 😬

Tiddlywinkly · 28/09/2023 21:57

Seamless tights. They're hard to track down and expensive. I don't like the obvious front middle seam on normal tights.

Dancingonandonandon · 28/09/2023 22:09

Clothes that are NOT see through!!!

Legselevens · 28/09/2023 22:22

A classic waterproof raincoat with hood

Crikeyalmighty · 28/09/2023 22:23

Black clothes in good cuts and nice fabrics with low or V or scooped necks and plenty of 14s to 18s

Frosty1000 · 28/09/2023 22:24

No polyester, it's just a sweat fest.

Petite clothes for shorties but plus size - why the assumption that just because you're a size 16/18 you're 6 ft - yes I'm looking at you Yours. Tops are down around my knees and look stupid.

I'd also bring back the sumptuously soft bras from M&S - they're my favourite and the replacement is dire. Nothing comes close.

Peachyscream · 28/09/2023 22:24

Im short and I’m SICK of clothes not fitting. So on the spot alterations,
Fit and flare dresses that aren’t ugly
Comfy undies that force my belly in
An empire line that doesn’t land on my stomach emphasising it
Very sexy high heels that don’t hurt
Leggings that don’t itch and aren’t see through
Jeans that flatter me
Anti stain and (truly) No iron fabric. On everything.
A cheap jewellery section. That doesnt fade or go green
A cute cafe with a selection of books - to pass the time whilst alterations are being done!

hey. I can dream.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 28/09/2023 22:27

No polyester, it's just a sweat fest.

Especially not polyester that is recycled and still mysteriously costs £150 for a dress. (I don't know who is buying this crap but please stop - you're only encouraging them).

Jellybean23 · 28/09/2023 22:29

Shoes for narrow feet.
Tshirts with elbow length sleeves and boat necklines

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 28/09/2023 22:36

Choice of sleeve length and trouser rise. I love half or 3/4 sleeves, can't stand high waists. Three pack of cotton knickers to coordinate with every bra. Vests and dresses with wide straps to accommodate a big bust.

HangingByYourFingernails · 28/09/2023 22:40

Double fronted or just thick smart white T shirts. And ivory, and cream. And shirts.

It's such an essential wardrobe staple for so many outfits and I don't want my underwear visible thanks. I can't remember ever looking at a male work colleague and seeing his nipples/chest hair visible through his white shirt/t shirt so it's obviously not as impossible to produce opaque white clothing as womenswear retailers would have you believe.

LittleMrsPretty · 28/09/2023 22:40

A tall range that means clothes are longer in the waist and body not just the skirt of a dress or leg length of a jumpsuit.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/09/2023 22:43

@AsCoolAsKimDeal I'm with you on straps!!

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 28/09/2023 22:46

Bralettes and swimwear that aren't underwired but will fit a small back/large cup

Whathappenedto · 28/09/2023 22:46

Flattering, comfy workwear, where the work is running around after small kids or animals all day. Where you have a life which means you are outdoors getting muddy, or just up and down off the floor every 5 minutes. You're getting mud on you, sick, mashed banana, etc. Clothes that you can wear and wash and wear and wash for at least a few years without getting holes. Clothes for mums (obviously not exclusively!!!!) where to be 'mumsy' isn't an insult, but nothing we stock would be mistaken for White Stuff or Seasalt. The items I'd keep having to reorder as they would sell out every month would be:

Our heavyweight crew neck cotton t-shirts, that have normal sleeves which you can roll up if you fancy or just leave at they are, and come in 6 different colours, and hit at the midrise point, so that you wouldn't be flashing your tum all day.

Our knitted cotton jumpers, machine washable, perfect for all seasons

Our raincoats, which would be properly, seriously waterproof, but come in colours other than khaki and black, and would also somehow look great with every style of the jeans which we stock.

Our straight jeans which are somehow able to hold your tummy in, be really comfy and easy to move in, look amazing with a perfect high-rise and straight to skinny leg, but to contain absolutely no elastane and are 100% cotton denim.

NO PATTERNS.

SqueakyDinosaur · 28/09/2023 22:47

Long merino wool cardigans. Long tops, many of them stripey. Lovely soft bamboo socks that are mid calf length.

stayathomer · 28/09/2023 22:48

The perfect jeans!!!!!

HandbagMarinara · 28/09/2023 22:49

Yes to the longer body sizing options.

Jeans that they sell forever, no changing with styles, especially a good boot cut.

I'm the competition across the street, with all of the above, except in stripes.

spanishviola · 28/09/2023 22:50

Well cut clothing made out of good quality natural fabrics. Not too much choice and no pastel colours at all.
