Anyone have experience of Vinted removing an unfair seller review?

I've been using Vinted to sell and buy for months now with no issue until today. Have a lot of feedback as both a buyer and a seller, all 5 star.

Recently bought a coat described as "Good" condition for £2 (that's what it was listed for), no mention of any defects or issues. Item arrives in a carrier bag, which had opened. Then took it out and saw there are large rips in the lining on both sides. Coat is a teddy style but it feels really hard, scratchy and unpleasant (like when you use fabric conditioner on towels). Care label says Dry Clean only but it smells strongly of detergent.

Given all of the above I messaged the seller, asked if it had ever been machine washed and mentioned the damage + open carrier bag sending. She replied saying the condition was Good as opposed to Very Good for a reason (not that she'd included any of this in the listing!) and that she washes all of her coats regardless of what the care label says and the coat is fine.

Bearing in mind I haven't asked to return it (no point as the return postage would cost more than the item!) She then sends me a series of messages calling me "crazy", insulting me, adding that she can't believe I have the cheek to complain about anything as the coat is fine and she paid £50 for it 3 years ago... and then says if I dare to mention any of this in my feedback she'll be leaving me negative feedback as payback.

Honestly, I feel I have to be honest in my feedback as the item wasn't as described, but more about how rude, aggressive and threatening with the feedback she's been. But I am also worried that obviously she intends to try and lower my feedback rating - has anyone had experience of Vinted removing unfair feedback? I paid instantly and other than questioning the above I haven't done anything that warrants negative feedback. :( Feeling upset and deflated about the whole thing.

Just leave it and move on. Is the £2 coat worth all the stress? She does sound awful.

I've stopped using vinted because of people using carrier bags for packaging. My last order was delivered wet, muddy and stinky. I couldn't wash the smell of damp out.

Hugs OP. Seller sounds like an unreasonable person.

twoastars · 27/09/2023 22:30

It's annoying. I avoid anything that is listed as less than 'very good' on Vinted as it is likely it wont be in great condition. She should have shown the rips in the photo though but I guess for £2 she wasn't bothered. I'd bin it and write it off.

mummabubs · 27/09/2023 22:33

I'm accepting of writing the coat off, lesson learned as I usually only go for Very Good too but as there were no defects listed or photograped I assumed it must be alright.

I just don't feel I can let her get a 5 star review after the way she's spoken to me, it's really upsetting. I also don't believe in rewarding her threatening me if I leave anything less than 5 stats. Some people are just unnecessarily unkind and up til now I've had a really positive experience of Vinted.

I think you can report the issue to Vinted - eg not go through the reviews process as it were, if the item is clearly not as described (which is what you've described).

But, for 2 quid (plus the postage so, what, maybe a fiver?) is it worth the hassle? Seller is clearly a d*ck tho. And sorry that you've been screwed over.

Prinnny · 27/09/2023 22:37

I mean..it was a £2 coat described as good condition. I would have just cut my loses tbh. The seller is probably thinking what did you expect for £2 but that doesn’t excuse her calling you crazy.

mummabubs · 27/09/2023 22:48

Honestly it's not about the coat anymore! As you say, I can take the hit on the coat at that price. 😂

It's purely how utterly unreasonable she's been in messages, saying some quite hurtful and personal things with no provocation (sending me multiple messages even after I calmly messaged to say I wouldn't be replying to anymore), lying about the condition of the (sodding!) coat and then to top it all off tries to hush me at the end and intimidate me into leaving her perfect feedback! The more I think about it I don't even think it's "Good", maybe "satisfactory but comes with a super aggressive message exchange" would be more accurate!

I guess I'm more used to eBay where the sellers are protected from receiving 'revenge reviews'. 🤷🏻‍♀️

She doesn't, I had it delivered to a drop off point 😂

This is my first experience of Vinted Customer Services and have to say they've been useless. They told me to pause the transaction by reporting an issue (which I did, and this further pissed off the seller). Vinted Customer Services then put the payment through as no issue and told me to leave negative feedback as it's important that members are truthful and not influenced by threatening behaviour from others. So I have done... At which point Vinted have said that unless her feedback to me contains hate speech they won't be removing it!?

Regardless of how much you pay... It seems it's fine for sellers to list an item inaccurately, be intimidating and rude to buyers (who haven't even asked for a return or refund!) and then leave the buyer negative feedback with no justification... Totally fine! 😂 What on earth does that Buyer Protection Fee actually protect anyone from?

@mummabubs well that's good! I recommend you talk to Vinted then 😊

I'm confused! Vinted literally aren't helping and won't remove any completely unfair negative feedback that she leaves for me. eBay was bad for sellers but at least it protects buyers from stunts like this!

I stupidly sent someone the wrong item once, which I rectified at my own cost and they left me 3 stars which was fair. I’ve only ever had 5 stars before that and the 3 stars hasn’t brought down my rating.

I would leave the negative feedback and accept you will get negative feedback back. You can reply to the feedback you get so people buying from you can judge on that review.

Steev · 28/09/2023 08:50

Give her a one star and copy her threat to give you bad feedback in it so everyone can make their own mind uo

THisbackwithavengeance · 28/09/2023 08:52

Report her to Vinted. She has no business sending you threatening/nasty emails. Cheeky cow.

I have reported her to Vinted and they literally don't care. Vinted authorised the payment to her despite me sending them photos of the large tears that weren't listed or photographed and the care label. They've not acknowledged any of her behaviour as being not ok and then closed down my support ticket when I asked how this is fair to me... 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is what I've done. No doubt she'll continue to label me as crazy!

Thanks @LiftyLift I think this is what I needed to hear. I've accepted I'm just going to have to take her feedback and hope that people can see I've got a perfect rating outside of this transaction.

I felt leaving honest feedback was important, after all I've never requested any money back from her and certainly didn't deserve her responses. I also don't take kindly to essentially being threatened not to leave negative feedback... I'm sure she thought I wouldn't follow through with it. Bullying behaviour isn't ok! 🤦🏻‍♀️

You can publish a reply to bad feedback so people will see what's happened, I think.

desikated · 28/09/2023 12:26

I think the advice to leave the bad feedback, including the sellers response i quotes to your issue is a really good one. They'll leave you s**t feedback - you can reply to this and point anyone i the direction of the original negative view you left. Also - you paid the money - which you can pointout. So the seller is literally no worse off out of this interaction other than showing themselves to be a total (insert word of choice here)

True. She hasn't left me feedback yet but has replied to mine on her profile saying clearly I expected excellent quality so shouldn't buy things off Vinted. 😂 Literally still have the insight to see it's not even about the coat, but her behaviour towards me!!!

I don't quite understand and suspect that you may have complained to Vinted about the wrong thing.

You complained about the rips - fair enough. But what you actually should complain about is her statement 'if I dare to mention any of this in my feedback she'll be leaving me negative feedback as payback.' Explain to V that you think they are right - feedback is important and should be honest. So how can they support a seller who is using unfair FB as a threat?

I promise I mentioned this multiple times to Vinted. I even pointed out that I hadn't asked for any money back, so whilst the item wasn't as described my bigger issue was her aggressive response and the "threat" (word I used every time) that if I didn't leave positive feedback she'd be retaliating.

Have tried to attach just some of the many times I tried to emphasise this point to Vinted, and the closest they got to acknowledging it... 🤦🏻‍♀️

That's appalling from Vinted. The correspondence DOES contain a threat, doesn't it! Maybe your feedback should contain comments about them - which will be fine as long as it meets these somewhat flabby requirements....

mummabubs · 28/09/2023 19:45

Given I didn't resort to hate speech I'm hoping the feedback will stay up @weirdoboelady 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ In the character limit I managed to capture that the item was damaged, that I'd reached out to the seller for advice on how to fix it (and not request any money back), that they'd been aggressive and rude and then threatened my own feedback rating if I mentioned any of it in my feedback. Frankly if I have to find something to laugh about it's that I managed to fit it all in under 400 characters 😂
