How to style a sequinned mini skirt

I lost my mind and bought a bargain sequin mini skirt (all saints, absolutely beautiful, second hand for under £20). It is a thing of sparkly wonder.

But I am 40, have been breastfeeding for the last four years, rarely go out to anything nice/fancy and lost my sense of style down the back of the sofa years ago. How the hell do I style this thing so it doesn’t languish in the back of the wardrobe mocking me forever more?

I’m 5’5” and a size 8 if that changes anything.

You will look amazing! I would wear it with opaque tights, boots (DMs if you have) and a baggy jumper for daytime.

Mine ruined my favourite blouse my catching on the sequins and pulling threads so be careful

Loose t shirt with a French tuck

Boxy blazer

Black turtleneck (do you call it polo-neck?), tights, heels. Let the skirt shine! Cover with a biker jacket if you have one.

Similar to @Bigminnie1, I would wear with thick tights, boots and a plain, dark coloured jumper.

I am much older and much rounder than you. I wear mine with either a black jumper or turtleneck, black tights and heeled boots, or with similar but with chunky flat boots. If I want to dress it up I go with the heeled boots, a plain black t-shirt and black velvet slouchy blazer.

Jacket and a graphic tee.

A boxy white or black tee, nice soft crew neck knit - keep your top half looser and less dressy to contrast. Blazer if you need a jacket. Boots. I love Cos for basic tees or M&S have some nice quality ones in Autograph at the moment, Next had some nice heavier weight boxy tees. I got the M&S cashmere crew necks in black or grey with a 20% last year, went a size up as I like them a little bit generous, and they look lush tucked into sparkly / leather skirts in winter and help dress them down while looking posh enough for a nice dinner or cocktails. (I’m 36)

Black jumper, fab jewellery and absolutely not brogues!

I'm older but a similar size to you.
I wear mine with chunky boots like DM's, opaque tights and either an All Saints slouchy t-shirt, band t-shirt or plain cashmere jumper and either a biker jacket or my velvet coat.

Oooh the skirt sounds gorgeous! I would wear it with a plain long sleeved bodysuit (one that picks out a colour of the skirt), thick black tights and chunky ankle boots. If a jacket is needed I would wear a leather one. Can we have a pic of the skirt please?

What colour sequins?
My friend has a gold sequin skirt and she wore it with a pale blue soft knit and it looked absolutely amazing.

I had to retire mine last Christmas because it was leaving a sparkly trail everywhere I went, but it had a good run. I wore it pretty much per pp, with black opaque tights, DM boots, and a black chunky knit jumper.

Skirt

I actually own DMs and some knits and t shirts that might work. No blazers - maybe I need a blazer? But I do have a leather jacket I basically live in if it’s jacket weather and not raining so maybe that will work.

You’re the same height/size as me, you’ll look amazing! It’s all about confidence.

Band t and big sole industrial type boots
Stripey jumper ( or cardigan)french tucked in to skirt and boots as above black opaque tights.
As above with a flannel shirt.

I think you need to lean in to All Saints styling of mixing the sequins with stuff that plays it down. Best accessory to have is the All Saints attitude!

My friend is 52 and wore one the other night and looked amazing. It was a club night and she went out in silver cowboy boots and a black top. Wouldn’t know how to dress it down though.
