Seasalt coats

I really need a truly waterproof coat for travelling to work. Especially after arriving looking like a drowned rat and everyone feeling sorry for me!

I have heard the Seasalt ones are good. What is the difference between the Janelle and the Plant Hunter please?
I've looked at the website but still not sure which is best.
I'm 5'3" and a size 14 if that makes a difference.

I've got the plant hunter, it's really water proof! Bought it for the school run and I love it. I haven't tried the Janelle though, I got the plant hunter because I found it in a sale.
I got a previous seasalt coat on eBay BNWT so always worth looking

Thank you 😊
I'll have a look on EBay.

The Janellle is very long and the most hated coat on S and B. Apparently it's frumpy, old fashioned, dowdy etc etc.😀Can't say I care. I love mine for walking around muddy parks. It's truly waterproof, great pockets, great hood.

But I am tall-ish and have long legs. Might be too long for you.

Oh no I just ordered the Janelle - in a petite size so maybe it will be ok. Other than the length it didn't seem that different to the plant hunter....

Loads of recommendations for the Janelle on here…

I think I'll go for the plant hunter then. I don't want it trailing in the mud, behind me!

Good choice, Op. My Planthunter is 4 years old and going strong, despite Scottish weather.; windproof, waterproof and warm. Just the right length to keep thighs and bum warm without being a trip hazard and good sized pockets.

I've got the Janelle because I walk to/from work throughout the winter and over the last 5+ years, it hasn't let me down once in torrential winter rain - it's kept me dry and warm. Frankly, for my commute, I don't really care about the style as much as the function, especially as I'm generally walking in the dark: it does what is supposed to do. I've got a Didriksons parka that I love but I tend to wear that in cold, dry weather but that's also a really good waterproof that's coped brilliantly with extreme cold, sleet and snow in Iceland and Germany.

A friend has the Plant Hunter and it looks lovely on her, but for keeping dry and toasty I prefer the longer length Janelle for what I use it for.

HewasH2O · 26/09/2023 22:22

I'm 5ft tall and have a Janelle. It's warm enough and long enough to keep me dry at rugby matches. I have the petite length. I thought I'd prefer the Plant Hunter, but although I liked the colour, it was shapeless on me.

FredaFox · 26/09/2023 22:22

I've got plant hunter and river sea
I'm always warm and plant hunter makes me too hot so only wear it wen it's really cold or snowy

HewasH2O · 26/09/2023 22:24

I also have a Gudrun Sjoden parka. That one is thoroughly waterproof, but has no padding or quilted lining.

MessyRaptor · 26/09/2023 22:25

I'm 5ft 3. I have Janelle. Really it's too long for me. And it makes an annoying rustling noise with every step. BUT I love it. I'm warm and dry whatever the weather throws at me. It's a bit shapeless and lumpy but perfect for cold mornings and wintery walks

Moonflower12 · 26/09/2023 22:32

I have ordered the plant hunter.

The annoying rustling noise would give my DD with sensory issues, great stress. Thank you for the warning!

I have a plant hunter and am also 5ft 3 in . My husband bought it as a present for me and it is fairly long as it's shaped a bit longer at the back I think. I would probably have been better with a petite but I had already started wearing it before I realised there was a petite. It is not tooo big though, and seems to be quite warm as well as waterproof in the winter.
