I sprayed some Chanel no 5 on in Boots, I felt intrigued after watching a documentary about Coco Chanel. I know it's very expensive.

Anyway...it smelt like old fashioned face powder! I was expecting an intoxicating smell of roses.

I am looking for a floral perfume but I also like bergamot and citrusy smells as well as spicy such as ginger. Any recommendations of either a floral or bergamot and citrusy perfume would be fab! Thanks.

Flower bomb. It's floral yet spicy

IAmColdAndIHaveACold · 25/09/2023 14:47

I love the old fashioned smell of No 5 but it's not for everyone!

Maybe try Coco Mademoiselle- that's a more modern floral with plenty of orangey notes, very wearable, similar beautiful bottle to No 5.

Have a look at Ingenious Ginger, the latest perfume from Goldfield & Banks (niche perfumer). Love their perfumes!

Nowtbettertodo · 25/09/2023 14:54

Chanel Chance is nice and also Daisy

Bearpawk · 25/09/2023 15:40

Twilly d'Hermes is a gorgeous floral with bergamot and ginger

idliketogetdownnow · 25/09/2023 18:31

Oh wow, Maya Nije Les Fleurs is to die for.

I also love Iris Nobile by Acqua di Parma and Do Son by Diptyque. Both floral.

You could try Jo Loves orange, coriander and bergamot (that's not the name but I can't remember it - it's gorgeous though. Quite masculine but I wear it!)

Flutterbye22 · 25/09/2023 20:26

Chanel Chance but get the Eau Fraiche if you’d like more zesty and floral.

Coco Mademoiselle is my favourite perfume. Just gorgeous 💛

soddingspiderseason · 25/09/2023 20:31

I usually go for Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, but my daughter bought me Sunflowers for my birthday and it's lovely; floral and summery. Much less expensive too.

bravotango · 25/09/2023 20:32

I like the Chanel.Chance, bit.fresher smelling. Also a fan of SJP Lovely but actually just bought the dupe in Lidl and it's not bad!

anon1968 · 27/09/2023 14:54

Love flowerbomb. I’ve also recently bought miss dior - absolutely blooming. Similar to flower bomb but softer. I also love the kay ali perfumes which i bought in boots, numerous fragrances but i have the cherry one (similar to tom ford very cherry and an apple one.

LightandAiry · 29/09/2023 18:01

Thanks for the recommendations, I've been into Boots spraying on some Flowerbomb - there were a few different ones.....I may go back,& retest

My DH has just brought me some samples of Diptyque perfume and the Orpheus is gorgeous! I also just had the £25 sample set from Saltworks perfumes and there are loads of lovely ones. It's nice to try before you buy.

ApolloandDaphne · 29/09/2023 18:18

It is actually called Orpheon

smallshinybutton · 29/09/2023 21:14

Try some By Killian samples

Bumblebeelane · 29/09/2023 22:02

Molecules 01 + Mandarin for me. I've had Chanel 19 which is uniquely beautiful. Love Libre intense. But the only perfume I love and that anyone has ever commented on is the Molecules mandarin. My mum comments any time I wear it. And a couple of people at work say my room smells so nice when I've been in it.

Have a look at Versace Dylan Purple:

Product Description
Dylan Purple is a bright and elegant fragrance. Sparkling bergamot is blended with the joyful tones of a freshly harvested orange. Juicy pear adds a touch of modernity to an accord that is as addictive as it is vibrant. The distinctive scent of freesia delivers an explosion of bright purple color, the delicate aroma of its petals enhanced by Mahonial and Pomarose.

MinnieMouse0 · 29/09/2023 22:07

Jo Malone peony and blush suede is lovely, it’s my fave ever perfume.

I also love the velvet rose one but it’s super expensive. I did manage to find a Zara dupe of it but the name escapes me!

The Gucci flora one in the pink bottle is nice too.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/09/2023 22:09

I agree with you about Chanel No 5 smelling old fashioned. It reminds me of my mother when she was young. Even she replaced it in the early 80's and has stuck with Firsr, Van Cleef and Arpels - which tbf also smells a bit old fashioned now

I like Miss Dior Blooming but I like Estee's Modern Muse better.

Some good suggestions on here that I'd like to try. Not keen on Chanel Chance.

I tried a real oldie the other week. Guerlain's L'Heure Bleu. It was like Harpic on me but I know it's been fresh and almost oceanic on others.

3kidsaremorethanenough · 29/09/2023 22:25

I normally wear Coco Mademoiselle but recently got miss Dior roses n roses as a present and love it.
