Everything is black, white, beige or khaki. It’s just all so dull and I can’t wear any of those colours. Zara had some lovely pieces but boxy or oversized jumpers just make me look massive. I’m a size 12 with boobs. Today was just so difficult and I couldn’t find anything smart causal. If I wanted a bog standard hoodie, puffer jacket or gilet, these were in abundance. I just wanted one or two nice tops/jumpers. I tried Zara, H&M, New Look and Primark. I’ve got marks and Spencer while DS is at rugby tomorrow.

Has anyone else been shopping recently? Have you found anything lovely?

I find most of my clothes in supermarkets now. Mainly Sainsbury's Tu and Asda George, loads of colours and fits that are suited to lots of body types. Sainsbury's is a favourite, I tend to get stuff in the sales out of season, you can save loads! Stuff is good quality too.

Thanks to those of you recommending &OtherStories. I decided to treat myself to a beautiful top from one of their lovely stores this week. I was visiting another city and for some reason ended up with a lot of time to browse. I'd forgotten what a sensory experience this could be, as I'm usually rushing around shopping with a 'This'll do' mindset. I would rather plan my time and buy just a couple of pieces a year that are beautiful in themselves.

Search Vinted for the colour and style and brand you know suits you - you can filter for brand new with tags so no quality concerns. Seriously the only way to go when everything in the shops is so dreary

I am happy with used condition - as long as the photos are decent, it's fine. I've honestly not had any issues with it, although I've heard horror stories.

If they're a smoker, they won't have good feedback.

Kettlewell (mail order) do brilliant basic t shirts and jumpers which wash well. I love bright yellow, orange and reds and bright blue suits me, too. I don't work for them....

I'm tempted by them, but some of it is so pricey - especially their basics. 30-someting pounds for a poloneck is just too damn much. But I do love their colours and the ability to sort by season.

Is the quality very good?
